Kerrigan Finishes 6th at State Wrestling Meet!
Junior Travis Kerrigan competed at the State Wrestling Tournament over the weekend at the Pepsi Center and finished sixth place in his weight division. Thursday evening was the first of his matches where he went all three rounds against Jeramiah Land of Platte Valley. Despite his good efforts he lost 18-4 in points. Friday he wrestled Holt Brashears of Woodland Park. Going the distance all three rounds Travis ended the match with a 7-6 win. Friday evening he wrestled one of his nemesis from League, Conner Peterson of Platte Valley. Travis has previously lost to him the past two years and was down in points against him in the third round but came back fighting pinning the opponent with 32 seconds remaining in the match. Saturday morning Travis wrestled in the third round consolations against Eli Smith of Salida taking the win by pinning him in the third round. He went in fighting hard in the semifinal consolation against Bart Gruenloh of Lamar trying to secure another win but was pinned quickly in the first round. Later that day he faced Atticus Fredrickson of Manitou Springs for the fifth place finish but unfortunately was pinned in the second round. It was a great weekend of wresting and a tremendous way for Travis to end the season.
