News from LCHS
Reminders: NO school Friday, February 15th
NO school Monday, February 18th
NO school for students Tuesday, February 19th, teacher professional development day
Thank you to all of the families who attended Parent/Teacher/Student conferences this week! This was a truly productive time to share student celebrations, address concerns, and discuss your student’s future plans.
Panther of the Week: Jaira (Ohana) Delgado Ohana has shown excellence in the classroom while bringing herself back from some hardships she has faced through the past few months. Ohana is a great leader with such a kind and intelligent soul. Congratulations!
Please remember to nominate students for the great work and character they show in our community. Please use this link to nominate. A group of alumni, parents and students vote each week on the Panther of the Week.

Final LCSD 2019-20 Calendar Survey: Please weigh in!
The LCSD Calendar Committee has been hard at work since October evaluating school calendar models and soliciting input on the calendar types that will work best for our community. Please visit www.lakecountyschools.net/calendar to see the final options, read about our work and review background information. During the month of January, the committee shared four possible calendars with many stakeholders–including students, staff, parents and community members.
There were two calendar models that received the most support: Calendar A and Calendar B. We also asked stakeholders for input on specific elements of school calendars. We have taken all of that feedback, made changes, and now present two possible LCSD calendars for 2019-20 and the two years following. The committee will use the results of this survey, along with all of the other feedback we have collected, as input in order to develop a recommendation to the Board of Education. The Board will consider the recommendation at its March 12 meeting.
Both Calendar A and Calendar B include the SAME number of student school days as the current calendar (164 days). Regardless of which calendar is selected, community partners have already indicated they will work together to provide as much programming as possible to students on non-school days. For reference, the current LCSD calendar has 58% 5-day weeks and 42% 4-day weeks.
Every parent is invited to complete the calendar survey once. The survey will also be available in paper form at Parent Teacher conferences. Please choose either paper or online for your submission. Take the online survey now!
