The Lake County DOOR Program is an alternative HS diploma program offered by Lake County School District located in Leadville, Colorado. The development of the DOOR Program was collaboration between Colorado Mountain College, Lake County School District and the Colorado Workforce Center to address the significant numbers of high school dropouts in Lake County. Students enrolled in the DOOR Program who successfully complete all graduation requirements will receive a Lake County High School diploma.
The DOOR Program is a self-paced, competency based opportunity for the motivated student to apply life skills to achieve a high school diploma, gain the knowledge and skills crucial for entry into the workforce, advanced training, or post secondary education.
Goal 1: To increase the academic skills and abilities of young adults in Lake County and to increase the number of young adults who graduate from high school.
Goal 2: Every Lake County DOOR Student will: (1) gain self-knowledge of his or her unique abilities as they related to future employment. (2) complete a job training or job preparation component as a requirement for graduation from the program and (3) have the information they need upon graduation to connect to employment or post-secondary opportunities.
