Out of School at LCSD

Our History

Out of School time through the Lake County School District encompasses both After School – Project Dream and Panther Days. Out of School programs are funded through various donations, district funds, and grants including the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant and the Climax-Area Community Investment Fund. After School – Project Dream takes place Monday-Thursday when school is in session after school hours. Panther Days, full day programming, take place on professional development days when school is not in session. Both types of Out of School time include: social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, athletics, club programs, and activities with local partner organizations. Similar programming to Panther Days was provided by GOL! during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years known as Adventure Days.

Panther Days programming takes place on the following dates during the 2019-2020 school year: 10/21/19, 11/1/19, 1/17/20, 2/18/20, 4/13/20. This programming will be held every Friday during the 2020-2021 school year.

Our Vision

Working together with community partners, we will create a healthier, safer, more prosperous Leadville where children are empowered to learn, encouraged to explore, challenged to grow, and inspired to lead.

Our Mission

LCSD challenges students to reach their fullest potential through personal, engaged and rigorous learning in the classroom and beyond. Through Out of School time we engage families, school staff and our community to provide students with a variety of enriching activities, positive relationships in a Crew-like setting, and tools for greater social-emotional and academic success, all designed to complement the students’ school day.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that LCSD can work alongside strong community partners to enrich the lives of our students.
  • We believe that we can create an inclusive environment to engage and empower students and their families.
  • We believe that through engagement and empowerment, we can create opportunities that enhance the experiences of students in Lake County.

Our Goals and Objectives

  • Provide opportunities for academic enrichment
  • Offer students a broad array of additional programs focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), physical activity and social-emotional learning
  • Involve community partners to offer diverse, high-quality programming
  • Offer families of students served opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education through parenting classes, ESL, and math help nights
  • Increase the percentage of students who achieve their annual projected growth in reading and math by providing academic support to all students
  • Increase school commitment
  • Support increased attendance rates in all schools
