What is the Head Start Policy Council?
Policy Council is the governing body of the Head Start Program and acts as the parents’ voice in making major decisions for the program. Together with the school board and program staff, the Policy Council is part of the shared governance of this preschool program.
Policy Council is comprised of parents and guardians of currently enrolled children and representatives of our community as the voting members. The required composition and function of the Policy Council is outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards concerning Program Governance.
Meeting dates and minutes for Policy Council meetings are posted on the bulletin board by Room 9 and in the monthly newsletter.
For more information on Policy Council, including how you can be involved, please see the Family and Community Partnerships Manager or the Director of Early Childhood Programs.
