We are “falling in love” with learning at WPE this fall!
As you have the chance to walk the halls of West Park Elementary School, take a moment to enjoy the quality work on display. We are ever so proud of our learners and staff!
Here are the upcoming themes for our next Expeditionary Learning Modules that we will begin on Monday, as our school becomes filled with meteorologists, astronomers and paleontologists:
- Kindergarten: In this unit, students will ask and answer questions about weather and how it impacts people and their choices all around the world. Students will demonstrate their learning by creating a fact page, exploring informative and narrative weather-related texts, and by creating and presenting a high-quality weather narrative. We are so excited!
- 1st grade: Students will explore the scientific and literary representations of the sun, moon and stars by using curiosity to learn more about the natural space world and different literary elements. It is time for lots of space exploration and even some space poetry!
- 2nd grade: After deep learning on how the earth has changed through fossil research, students will have the chance to write a story about a paleontologist discovering a fossil. We will dig deeply into the worlds of dinosaurs and the scientists who study them… get ready to learn some new terms about paleontologists!
During our Celebration of Learning on December 7th, students will be sharing with you the lab experiences they are exploring to complement the units above. These units inspire so much creativity and wonder.
