LCIS Multilingual Instructional Paraprofessional
Reports To: English Language Development Teacher
Length of Assignment: 179 days per year, follows LCSD calendar. 162 student contact days. The majority of work days are on a 4 day work week beginning in August and ending in June. Additional days include professional development and work days.
Salary: $19/hour base ($27, 208 for 179 days; salary will be prorated for later start date). Excellent benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance and Paid Time Off. Plan to start ASAP.
Purpose of Position: Work in collaboration with and under the supervision of the English Language Development teacher to provide language instruction to multilingual students.
Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
● push-in to support multilingual students in their general education classrooms grades 3-6
● teach small group lessons providing English language development and phonics instruction
● support ELD teacher with coverage, as needed
● use language data to support instruction
● communicate with Special Education staff to determine language needs for students who are dually-identified, as
needed
● participate in professional development to increase knowledge of language acquisition and language teaching
and learning
● model and implement school-wide policies and expectations
● participate in feedback/observation cycles with supervisor to improve teaching craft and student outcomes
● participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process, as needed
● supervise students within 8 hour day and fulfill assigned duties
● complete plans for substitutes in the event of any absences
● monitor progress of students on Monitor Status (M1 and M2) and provide support, as needed
● annually meet with multilingual students to graph ACCESS scores
● other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
● Applicants must hold a high school diploma or a GED
● Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
● Familiarity with language acquisition preferred
● Successful experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
● Applicants must pass all required background checks and fingerprinting
