Important School Safety Update 9.10.24

Dear LCSD Parents & Guardians:

It has come to our attention that there is a new school-related safety concern that is more local to Lake County. We are actively in touch with law enforcement, who is actively investigating and working to resolve this concern. 

As a precaution, we are placing all of our schools in a heightened security status. This means that nobody will be allowed into our schools unless we can identify them. There will be no outdoor recess or outdoor activities this afternoon. We are planning for no outdoor athletic practice unless the situation is resolved before dismissal. Athletes who normally practice outdoors will receive specific instructions about where to meet for indoor practice. Project Dream activities will take place as normal with no outdoor activities. Students at LCHS will not be allowed to leave this afternoon for CMC classes or internship. 

Students do not need to be picked up at this time. In partnership with and supported by law enforcement, we are planning for a normal dismissal. If your student typically walks or bikes home, and you would prefer to pick them up today, please call your school’s front office. Please be patient as our offices may receive a high volume of calls.
