School Safety Update 9.10.24 5:30 pm
Dear LCSD Parents & Guardians:
We want to keep all of you updated on the safety concern that was brought to our attention earlier today. Please see this update that was posted by law enforcement. LCSD continues to work with law enforcement and we will provide new information if and as they release it to us. We understand that it is frustrating to have incomplete information.
We plan to run school tomorrow, Wednesday with heightened security practices, just like we did this afternoon. If something changes between now and tomorrow morning, we will communicate more information to you.
Tomorrow, just like this afternoon, nobody will be allowed into our schools unless we can identify them. There will be no outdoor recess or outdoor activities on our school campuses. We will communicate about athletics and Project Dream tomorrow afternoon.
Students will need a parent/guardian to call and excuse them for any departure from the buildings. Once a student arrives at school, they need to remain in the building until dismissal unless a parent/guardian calls to excuse them. This includes off campus lunch for LCHS/CCHS, CMC classes, and internship.
We understand that the last two weeks have the potential to create a lot of emotions. As we navigate through this together, please know that we are actively working with law enforcement to keep everyone as safe as possible, while still providing learning and community for our students. We are so grateful for our amazing community.
Thank you,
LCSD Leadership Team
