Location: Cloud City Alternative High School, Leadville, Colorado
Job Type: Part-time to full time position: 5.5 to 8 hours per day for academic year; follows the Lake County School District Calendar; most work weeks are Monday-Thursday!

Salary Range: $19.00/hour; ($27,208 annually for 179 day contract if 8 hours per day) Plus full excellent benefits – 12 PTO days, medical, dental and vision insurance! Benefits apply for 30 hours per week. FLSA-Exempt.
Start Date: as soon as possible, 2024-2025 School Year; benefits and pay prorated for later start date

Cloud City High School is the District’s Alternative School and enrolls approximately 35 students. Full time course loads for students are achieved through any combination of:
- In-house courses in 21st century skills
- Preparation for the Reading and Math Competency exams
- Work Based Learning in Community and School settings
- Courses at Colorado Mountain College
Students are offered individualized scheduling and programming which takes into consideration barriers they might be experiencing such as mental health needs, parenting, caring for family members, and transportation.
Job Description & Tasks
- Build a positive rapport with students, families, and staff members.
- Work as an attendance advocate, calling families and support with writing attendance success plans collaboratively with students.
- Monitor front office operations during lunch hour.
- Communicate with students and families with English or Spanish, depending upon family preference; interpret when needed
- Provide supervision throughout the day across various school and community based settings of students, supporting school-wide and district-wide expectations and norms.
- Supporting students in completion of required paperwork and documentation for alternative coursework.
- If needed, respond to student discipline or crisis situations using de-escalation techniques, collaborative problem solving, and restorative justice.
- Hold students accountable to all school wide and agreed upon expectations.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with student(s) and in general education settings.
- Observe and document student performance when requested.
- Assist teachers in maintaining the classroom environment.
- Help teach and model school-wide and classroom expectations and rules.
- Provide clear and consistent consequences for inappropriate behavior; implement behavior plans.
- Maintain a positive attitude, behavior and language towards students at all times
- Provide appropriate modeling for students.
- Supervise students in less structured environments (before/after school, mealtime in the cafeteria, gym, community room, weight room and/or other times during the day).
- Drive in-town routes with students on board using a District-owned 7 passenger vehicle.
- Attend training and team meetings as needed, completing outside work during other working hours when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Applicants must hold a high school diploma or a GED.
• Applicants must pass all required background checks and fingerprinting.
• Must have a valid CO driver’s license, clean driving record and pass Small Vehicle Operator Certification (written and practical tests).
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
