Update from LCSO on School & County Closures
Dear LCSD Staff and Families:
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office released the following brief update regarding the closure of our schools and multiple public buildings today. We continue to work closely with law enforcement, and follow their lead with regard to the investigation and our next steps before reopening our schools. Student and staff safety is always our top priority, and we make our decisions collaboratively with our law enforcement partners with an abundance of caution.
“November 12, 2025 – Lake County, Colo –
At approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning, law enforcement notified the Lake County School District and Lake County Government of a threat directed toward the schools and the District Attorney’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting thorough sweeps of the impacted areas. The schools will remain closed for today.
Please note that this incident remains under active investigation, and we appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we continue to ensure the safety of our schools, community and courthouse staff.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
We know that these events are very unsettling for all of us. We appreciate your patience and your understanding as we navigate them together.
