CCHS News and Announcements
Hello Cloud City Families!
It is a busy time of year with a lot of school things to think about! Seniors have two weeks to finish up all missing assignments in order to graduate (see ReGroup below) and we are gearing up for a shift to the final segment of our Student Calendar on May 3 (see Workforce Readiness Bootcamp below). Seniors will be presenting and defending their final graduation portfolios during the month of May and there are some other events for Seniors that are listed on the Final Checklist and Schedule. Have a great Monday and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions and clarifications as we get into all the exciting end of the year activities! To reach someone in English call 719-486-6980. To reach someone in Spanish 719-427-0114.
Heather and the CCHS Team
ReGroup We are starting our last ReGroup of the School Year this week. This is a time for students to come in and complete any missing assignments and receive extra help from teachers in small groups for anything they are not quite sure about. For our Seniors, this is the final opportunity to complete work needed to graduate. ReGroup will run until April 28. Any Senior not done with all missing work by April 28 will not be on the list to graduate this Spring. Final checks for Service Learning hours will be on May 26, so there is additional time for completion of Service Learning only.
Portfolio Defense Scheduling If your student is graduating this year, they should have scheduled their defense appointments. These will all occur on Mondays in May and it is how CCHS determined if students have met the standards needed for graduation since we do not use grades. Please double check with your student if you are unsure about whether they have scheduled their appointment.
NWEA The final NWEA tests of the school year will be administered in the Community Room from 12-2pm this week and next. Students can drop in to test and check this item off their Golden Tickets for ReGroup as well as their Senior Checklists.
Senior Checklist Please pay close attention to the deadlines on this checklist. We will not be able to accommodate exceptions for late work as June 4 is a hard and fast deadline and there are many pieces to get in place ahead of graduation day!
Prom We were not able to get enough students to confirm that they would like to attend Prom and will not hold a Prom this year separate from the one at LCHS. 9 students out of 38 were interested. Details are coming regarding whether CCHS students may attend as students and not guests at the Prom being held by LCHS so stay tuned!
Workforce Readiness Bootcamp runs from May 2- June 2 for Seniors and from May 2- June 16 for underclassmen. Students will be expected to be in school all day (10am-5:30pm) Tuesdays-Thursdays. We will be breaking into groups according to student interest and/or chosen career cluster to engage in projects designed to develop skills and provide work experience for our students. Students will need to apply and interview for their area of choice. Students who have full time jobs that can be documented through Work Based Learning contracts and Work Logs will not need to attend daily, but instead turn in their signed contracts and maintain their log. They will need to show that their resume is complete and that they know how to fill out a job application in order to be dismissed from the daily activities of the Bootcamp. Please contact Heather with any questions related to this final segment of the CCHS student calendar.

Outward Bound is offering a free backpacking trip to LGBTQ+ youth this summer in California. Outward Bound LGBTQ+ coursesare designed for LGBTQ+ teens to build community and cultivate self-efficacy through service-learning, leadership development, and self-discovery in natural environments. This course is staffed with Instructors who have lived experiences with and demonstrated support for the LGBTQ+ community. Staff strive to create a safe space for teens who have experienced being marginalized due to their identity, and/or are exploring their sexual and/or gender identity to build community and cultivate self-efficacy. Students should expect a traditional Outward Bound course structure, where they’ll learn technical skills and take responsibility for daily activities, while also developing relationships and building community with other LGBTQ+ youth. The program provides full-tuition scholarships for highly motivated LGBTQ+ youth from under-resourced communities to attend an Outward Bound wilderness course. https://www.outwardboundcalifornia.org/planning/scholarships/pinnacle-scholarship-program/lgbtq-scholarship/?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=Organic&utm_campaign=national_push
