LCES Weekly Update 8/26/22
LCES Families,
We had another great week of school! We have started our new literacy curriculum with all students this week and have seen a lot of really great work as we review skills learned. Be sure to check your students Thursday folder each week for important information being sent home and work that you can do with your student in order to help extend the learning happening at school. Remember the best thing you can do for your child to help them learn to read and grow in reading is to read for at least 20 minutes each day with them. If you need books at home, please reach out to Mrs. Pongrekun.
Please remember that we go outside everyday. As our weather starts to change, please remember to send your child with the appropriate gear for outside everyday. Please have your child’s name on their gear as well so we can return it to the right person if it is misplaced.
Cornerstone Days!
Cornerstone Days are starting this next week with 2nd grade going to CMC on Tuesday. We are partnering with Get Outdoors Leadville! in order to take kids outdoors to engage in activities to help build crew connections and practice our habits of work and learning. This is a great day for students to make good friends, get to know each other and their teacher more, and have a fun time in the outdoors. Be sure to send your child with the appropriate gear: tennis shoes, layers, a rain jacket, sun screen, a water bottle, and a home lunch if you did not select for them to have a school lunch that day. Please reach out to the front office or your child’s teacher if you have any questions. 1st grade will be doing their Cornerstone day on September 7th; Kindergarten will have theirs on September 13th.
Arrival and Dismissal:
Thanks for making our arrival and dismissal process go so smoothly this week. We are working hard to make this as quick and calm a process as possible.
- Drop off begins in the morning at 7:40. Please do not drop students off earlier than this time.
- Dismissal will start at 3:15 each day. Our goal is to have students ready to walk out the door by 3:20. Students must be picked up no later than 3:40 each day.
- If you have a change to your end of day plan, please call Mrs. Analy or Mrs. Marissa in the front office (719-486-6890) before 2:30 each day.
- Please do not park or drive in the bus lane. This is a one way and reserved for our buses that come at various times throughout the day. Thanks so much for helping us keep our parking lot and bus drop off area safe.
