LCES Family Communication 1/27/23
LCES Families,
We had a wonderful week at LCES! On Thursday, we had our community meeting led by 2nd grade for the HOWL of Craftsmanship. We also awarded 55 reading awards to students who made significant growth on their Acadience Reading test from beginning of the year to middle of the year. We are so proud of the hard work our students are showing us each and every day!
Community Meeting:
Valentine’s Day: On Tuesday, February 14th we will be having Valentine’s Day Celebrations. Parents/Guardians are invited to attend their student’s Panther Day Celebration during specials in the gym and are also welcomed to their student’s classroom celebration.
- Kindergarten: Panther Day begins in the gym at 1:35. Classroom celebrations begin at 2:20.
- First Grade: Classroom celebrations begin at 1:45. Panther Day in the gym follows and will begin at 2:25.
- Second Grade: Panther Day begins in the gym at 12:45. Classroom celebrations begin at 1:30.
If you are expecting to be there, please email your child’s teacher to let them know you are planning on coming.
Students are allowed to bring a friendship Valentine’s card for every student in their class. Store bought wrapped treats are allowed, we just ask you to reach out to your student’s teacher to see if there are any allergies. Safety Reminder: Please use caution when walking through the parking lots and the snow and ice is present. We do have the main parking areas cleared by 7, but there is still ice that builds up.
Buckle Up Zone: If you are picking your student up in the parent pick up lane, feel free to stop between the green buckle up signs to get your student in a seat belt. Also, if you need a car seat or booster for your child, please let us know as we have some available.
Parent Volunteer Opportunities:
- Volunteers are still needed in order to help prep some curriculum materials for teachers. If you are able to come in to help, please reach out to the front office.
- Would you like to come in and lead games/activities on the playground during recess? Reach out to Katie Pongrekun if you are interested in volunteering.
Literacy Night Planning:
- Do you have an interest in helping organize and host our second annual Joy of Reading Literacy night? We are looking for several parents and community volunteers who are willing to be a part of the planning team. If you are interested in joining this team, please reach out to Katie Pongrekun at kpongrekun@lakecountyschools.net.
Kids Heart Challenge:
- All Heart Challenge donations need to be turned in to Mrs. Ayers by Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
