The weather finally feels like a beautiful\nspringtime! &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*This week\u2019s at-home learning packets are still available 24-hours\nunder the LCIS awning, to be as convenient as possible. &nbsp;<\/strong>Please reach\nout to your child\u2019s teacher if you have ANY questions or if you haven\u2019t been\nable to get at-home learning activity packets.&nbsp; The younger your child is,\nthe more guidance and structure they will need to be successful.&nbsp; Please\nbreak work into small time-chunks, follow a predictable schedule and celebrate\nsuccesses!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At-home learning is new for us all, and so please\nknow that the two most important things you can do with your children\nare:&nbsp; <strong><em>read to\/with and talk with your child as much as possible<\/em><\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*Final Packet Pick Up and Student Belonging Distribution:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Monday, May 11 from 8:00am-4:00pm and Tuesday May 12 from\n3:00pm-7:00pm we will host our final packet\/belonging pick up at West Park<\/strong> (not at LCIS)<strong>.\n<\/strong>At this time we plan to distribute: the last two weeks of at-home learning\nactivities, the remaining spring pictures, student art pieces, yearbooks,&nbsp;\nand student belongings that were left at the hook spots. We have ordered extra\nyearbooks if you wish to still purchase one (please bring a check for $25).&nbsp;\nYou may also return WPE library books and public library books at this\ntime!&nbsp; Currently, our staff is gathering up your child\u2019s belongings and\npreparing them for you to take home. These items will be in a larger bag to\nkeep everything together.&nbsp; If you are missing a clothing item, we may have\nit in our lost and found &#8211; please let your crew teacher know! We will have the\nlarger lost and found items out for you on the outside of the school building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Distribution for these days will follow a similar structure as we\nfollowed at LCIS: parents will enter the WPE drop off lane from 12th Street,\ndrive up to the cone at the front entrance, remain in their vehicles and tell\nthe WPE staff member their child\u2019s name and grade level. A staff member will\nbring your child\u2019s items to you. The next stop is for art items that will be\ndelivered to you at the western walkway. Please only plan to get out of your\nvehicle if you want to look at the lost and found items and remember to follow\nsocial distancing recommendations. All staff members will practice social\ndistancing and wear a mask, to keep everyone safe!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Because we are offering two pick-up sessions with extended hours\non Tuesday, we are asking that all families make a plan to come and pick up\ntheir child\u2019s belongings at this time. <\/strong>&nbsp;If you are currently under a medical\nquarantine or do not have a way to get into town, please let your crew teacher\nknow and we can develop a plan to get you your child\u2019s belongings.&nbsp; We can\nalso make appointments for later in the week, if you are not in town on these\ndistribution days. <strong>Otherwise, we look forward to seeing all families on May\n11th and 12th!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will be mailing report cards home the week of May 18th.&nbsp;\nThese reports will reflect student progress through March 13, 2020.&nbsp; If\nyour mailing address has changed since registration, please leave a message\nwith the WPE office at 719-486-6890.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are also planning our orientation activities for our rising 3rd\ngraders to feel as comfortable as possible with the exciting transition\nahead!&nbsp; The LCIS staff is creating a fun orientation video that will be\nposted on our website by the end of May to help decrease the \u201cnew school\u201d\nworries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Lake\nCounty Build a Generation has also provided a form you can fill out if you are\nseeking volunteer opportunities or additional support. I\u2019m trying to upload videos more\nfrequently since we don\u2019t get to spend time together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lexiacore5.com\/register\">Lexia\nCore5 Reading<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&#8211; supplemental reading skill practice that Kinder, 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\ngrade students can use at home (parent\/sibling help is only needed if the apple\nin the corner is red!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidsa-z.com\/main\/Login\">Kids\nA-Z<\/a>\n\u2013 fun reading games which students enjoy!&nbsp; Books are in English and\nSpanish!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engageny.org\/\">Engage\nNY Math Curriculum<\/a> \u2013 click on the grade level from the Math column to see\nour math curriculum.&nbsp; You can also click on \u201cParents and Families\u201d from\nthe top menu for parent resource packets and helpful videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.dreambox.com\/login\/nan7\/fs4n\">DreamBox<\/a> \u2013 we have been given\ncomplimentary DreamBox Learning subscriptions for our students through the end\nof June. DreamBox is a K-8 digital math program.&nbsp; This is optional for\nyour children, and you we hope you find it engaging if you choose to access it!\nWe hope you share in our excitement about this program \u2013 please see the\nattached letter for how to log in.&nbsp; A copy of the letter is also in this\nweek\u2019s packet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*Lake\nCounty SBHC will re-open on Tuesday, May 5<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>! The SBHC will be open 1 day\/week\n(Tuesdays) from 8am-5pm for well visits (Well Child Checks, immunizations,\nsports physicals, reproductive health, injuries). Telehealth\/virtual\nappointments will be offered for sick visits, including potential COVID-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behavioral\nhealth appointments are available via telehealth or in person at our main\nSummit Community Care Clinic in Frisco. SCCC will honor your student\u2019s SBHC\nenrollment and pricing at the main clinic through August 31, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nquestions or to schedule an appointment, please call the Summit Community Care\nClinic (your SBHC sponsor) at 970-668-4040, or 719-486-6981 on Tuesdays when\nthe SBHC is open. It is super important that everyone completes the Census for their\nhousehold. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/2020census.gov\/\">2020 US Census&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Lake County Build a Generation has also provided a form you can fill out if\nyou are seeking volunteer opportunities or additional support.
