News from LCHS
Dear Families,
This past year we have focused a lot on making our school culture more academic and positive. We feel great about the gains we have made there and will continue to focus on academics and culture. However, we also know we have a long ways to go in terms of parent involvement and giving parents avenues and options to support our school, connect with each other and support student activities. We would like to start a few small projects this spring to give parents opportunities to get involved and to connect. On the athletics side we want to focus on participation and an improved Panther Pride Group. Panther Pride will seek to have representatives from each team with the goals of giving parents opportunities to support teams as well as Lake County athletics in general. There will be a meeting to launch the Panther Pride Group on January 10th at 7:00 pm in the LCHS cafeteria. See you there!
We are also planning to launch a parent committee this spring. Our hope is that the Panther Parent Committee (PPC) will evolve into a group that helps with decision making, plans events, and helps to support students with a well-rounded HS experience. We also hope that parents will connect and build community and relationships through PPC. To launch this group we will meet on January 17th at 7pm in the LCHS Cafeteria with two very modest goals. First, we hope to organize parents to provide food for the teachers and a social space for parents during parent teacher conferences on February 13th and 15th. Second, we would like to have this group of parents help plan and support Prom/After Prom this spring. LCHS staff will be involved and will help, but we know with parent support we can make it an even stronger event. Lastly, we will ask PPC to help us start thinking about homecoming week next year and how to make that week a celebration of our schools for the entire Leadville community. It is our hope that by taking on these projects we will lay the foundation for a strong parent group that will evolve and grow into supporting the school and students in various ways. We hope to see you there. Translation services will be provided.
Ben
