News from LCHS
Reminder: No school Monday, Labor Day Holiday, A-day students will attend school on Wednesday, 9-9 and Friday 9-11
This week students and staff worked hard practicing our established safety and academic protocols and adjusting to our new schedules. Your student’s learning selection of in-person leaning A-days or B-days, and Virtual learning option, is set and no more changes will be made. Please remember to do your health screening at home before coming to school. This will make entering school in the morning run smoothly. Be sure to wear your mask, bring your water bottle, and bring a fully charged chromebook and the charger. If you have any concerns or questions please contact Ben Cairns, Principal, 719-486-6970.
UPDATE: Meals during Yellow Phase Reopening
All meals are now free for all students regardless of free/reduced lunch status. Please be sure to take advantage of the meals LCSD is able to provide!
Please follow this link for details on distribution depending on your student’s learning choice. If you need any accommodations please do not hesitate to reach out to Julie Mehle jmehle@lakecountyschools.net 719-293-1040 (cell), 719-486-6960 (work).
Even though meals will be free for all students for at least the next few weeks, we encourage all families, including our virtual students, to apply for Free and Reduced School Meals during the first 30 days of school. It is necessary to complete a new application each school year. If your student was eligible for free or reduced meals during the 2019-2020 school year, that eligibility only carries through the first 30 days of school. Children need healthy meals to learn and thrive at school! Lake County School District offers healthy meals every school day and eligible families can receive these meals at no cost. When families apply for school meal benefits they are also helping Lake County School District receive additional funding that goes right back into the classroom!
Applications can be turned in at any school front office Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, or mailed to Leslee Torsell, Lake County High School, 1004 W. 4th St., Leadville, CO 80461. If you need an application use this link to download the application as a PDF – https://www.lakecountyschools.net/for-families/nutrition/nutrition-application/ or contact Leslee Torsell, ltorsell@lakecountyschools.net, 719-486-6954.
Pandemic EBT Benefits Application portal will close in three weeks
