News from LCHS
Hi Families,
We hope you are well as we start to transition from fall to real winter weather. This week we have seen the most contentious election in recent memory. We know students and families come from a wide variety of perspectives and that this year has been stressful generally. Obviously, the unknown elements and tension of the election have added to student anxiety. With the encouragement of our Student Senate, I did take the opportunity in special community meetings this week to remind our students of two fundamental truths. First, we have a strong democracy and system of government and that we can all trust the process to come to the truth. We took time to celebrate the fact that we have elections and voting and how that has helped our society to be free and peaceful through many challenging times. Secondly, as a community here, we are rooted in the values of respect and compassion and must still be kind to one another, even if we disagree about things. Students responded well to these messages and we have not had any issues at school. Have a great weekend.

Some reminders from Lake County School District:
Meals are available free to all children 18 and under. Contact Julie Mehle (719)293-1040 for information. This is important to the district because if we are not serving the meals, we cannot get reimbursed. To keep the free meal program functioning, we need to have families benefitting from the program.
The Tuesday and Thursday bus routes are full (limited capacity), it would be great to keep the message circulating that busing is for hardship only, those students who do not have any other option for getting to school can take the bus.
