A Message from Athletics:
I’d like to introduce myself as Lake County’s new Athletic and Activities Director. My name is Amy Peters, and I have been coaching cross country and track & field in our district for over 20 years. I am excited to enter this new role, and I intend to be a visible and supportive presence to help our sports teams become even more successful. Please reach out to me at 719-293-0105 or apeters@lakecountyschools.net if you have any questions, concerns or ideas regarding Lake County athletics.
Fall sports are quickly approaching! We will offer co-ed cross country running, girls’ volleyball and boys’ soccer for our 9-12 grade students. Students in 6-8 grades have the options of boys’ football, co-ed cross country, girls’ volleyball or boys’ soccer. The high school seasons and middle school cross country officially begin on Monday, August 8; the other middle school sports will kick off after classes begin. In order to participate, athletes must have a current physical and have completed the Athletics section of the school online registration or fill out an Athletics packet, which can be picked up from the LCHS main office. If your student is not yet in contact with a coach, you can sign up for a team at orientation or send me your information, and I will pass it on to the appropriate person.
We strongly encourage all students to participate in at least one sport or activity. Involved students pass classes at a higher rate, have less behavior issues and enjoy school more! Please encourage your students and their friends to find a team or club to join. GO PANTHERS!
