News From LCHS 11/15/24
Dear LCHS Families,
It was another great week here at LCHS. We have continued to see our students and teachers engage in meaningful learning opportunities. As we have walked classrooms this week, we have seen our students engaging in robust discussions, learning to use saws in building trades, and learning calculus outdoors!
Highlights from the Week
- Our Romeo y Julieta cast and crew continue to work on preparations for their upcoming performance in December.
- Our first cohort of internship students began at Climax.
- HS Volleyball made it into the postseason.

Finals
Final exams for semester one will be held on Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th.
If a student/family is requesting an approved early final, the request must be submitted by Monday, December 2nd.. The semester 1 approved early final date will be Friday, December 13th starting at 8:00AM. For students who may need to take their finals at different time, families must meet with the administration team to present their request and discuss next steps. The final decision will be made by the administration team and communicated to the family. These decisions will be approved on a very limited basis. In the case of medical emergencies, a doctor’s note and/or meeting may be required. Not following these procedures could result in a zero for the final exam portion of the students final grade. The request form is available in the front office beginning Monday, November 18th. Please call the front office at 719.486.6950 for more information.
Drop-off Zone
Students who are being dropped off in the front of the school should only be dropped off through the lower drop off lane next to the school. Please do not drop students off in the upper lane that flows towards LCIS due to safety concerns for students.
Attendance
As we near the end of the semester, it is important that your student is attending regularly to make sure they are prepared for the end of the semester and final exams. Remember, if your student is going to be absent please call the front office to have them excused.
Attendance Data (Week of 11/4)
7/8: 90%
9/10: 87%
11/12: 86%
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,

Athletics
As we wrap up the fall sports seasons, I am inviting parent and student input on how our programs are doing and ways that we can improve. The survey has been sent to all high school fall sport athletes and parents. Here is the link again. Thank you to those of you who have already completed the survey. I appreciate your feedback!
The middle school girls’ basketball schedule is posted on the athletic calendar (https://chsaa.rschooltoday.com/public/genie/1518/school/445/). The season will run from December 9 through February 7, but the team is already holding open gyms on Sundays from 11 am – 1 pm at the LCIS gym. (This is a time change.) Email msgirlsbasketball@lakecountyschools.net for more information.
High school basketball and wrestling begin on Monday, November 18! That is also the CHSAA regain date for those sports. If your student failed 2 or more classes last spring and did not make up credits through summer school or regain their eligibility during a fall sport, then they need to regain eligibility on November 18. We will check grades on Nov 18, and athletes who need to regain eligibility must be passing ALL of their classes, or they will NOT be ineligible to play basketball or wrestle this winter. This CHSAA policy is a little confusing, so email me with questions.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!!
