<\/figure>\n\n\n\nSports Report<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n HS boys’ soccer beat Estes Park 10-0 yesterday, ending the game early because of the mercy rule!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The mountain bike team dealt with hot and dusty trails in Eagle last Sunday. Hattie Mallozzi placed 3rd in the sophomore girls’ division, while Finnley Stanek and Emily Charles took 12th and 13th in the varsity girls’ division. Wilson Anderson finished 15th in the varsity boys\u2019 race!<\/p>\n\n\n\n MS volleyball won at all 3 levels against Clear Creek on Wednesday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s time for sports pictures! Team and individual sport pictures will be taken during practice time during the next 3 weeks. Any athlete who wants to order pictures MUST turn in their order form on picture day to their coach or directly to the photographer. If they do not have their order form completed and turned in on picture day, their individual pictures will not be taken. No orders will be taken through social media outlets. Coaches will have copies of the order form to pass out ahead of picture day. You do not<\/strong> need experience in finance or accounting. We are looking for people who are curious, willing to ask questions, and interested in learning more about how school funding works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The committee reviews the district’s budget and financial position, discusses financial issues facing our schools, and provides a community perspective on financial decisions. We have really awesome kids. They are settling into routines, building relationships, and bringing energy and personality to our school each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, we know the work is still ahead of us. One of our biggest areas of focus this year is instruction and making sure every student has a strong learning experience in every classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To support that work, we are beginning to introduce our LCHS Vision for Instruction. At its core, this is our shared picture of what strong teaching and learning should look like across our school. It helps us create greater consistency around clear expectations, student engagement, strong relationships, meaningful learning, and support. It does not mean every classroom looks the same. It means we are clear about the experiences we believe every student deserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I will share more about this at our first Parent Coffee Chat <\/strong>on Monday, September 14 from 10:30-11:30 AM<\/strong>. We will begin in the cafeteria, talk about our schoolwide priorities, visit classrooms, and give families an opportunity to see our students and teachers in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This work takes all of us. Students, staff, families, and our community each play an important role. It truly takes a village, and I am grateful for the partnership as we continue building on a strong start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are glad you are a part of LCHS,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sports Report<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Chloe King has won 2 high school girls’ cross country races in a row. She was the champion in Buena Vista and at the Lake County Invitational last weekend. As a team, the Lady Panthers took 2nd, and the boys’ team was 3rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The middle school volleyball team has been playing well. The A team picked up wins against Vail Mountain and Custer County this week, while the B team won a close game against Custer County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The spring musical has been announced! The Lake County drama department will be performing The Music Man<\/em> during the weekend of March 4-6. This is an important milestone for our school and reflects the hard work of our students, staff, and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Progress like this does not happen because of one program, one person, or one year of work. It comes from showing up every day, building stronger systems, supporting students, improving instruction, and continuing to raise expectations for what is possible at LCHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We also know there is more work ahead. There are areas where we need to continue growing, particularly as we push toward stronger academic achievement and growth for every student. A Green rating is something worth celebrating, but it is not a finish line. It is evidence that the work is moving us in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am incredibly proud of our students and staff and grateful for the partnership of our families. On the homepage, select the team you are looking for from the list on the left. Hint: you might have to scroll down to find what you’re looking for. When you click on a program, you will automatically be taken to the varsity level of that program. Click on the word Varsity at the top of the page and select the level you are looking for from the dropdown menu. Then click on Schedule to see and print the season’s schedule. You can also click the green Notifications button to select what notifications you would like to receive for your team. Click on the Panther head anytime to go back to the LCHS home page. Along the top of the home page, you can select Calendar to get a weekly or monthly view of everything going on at LCHS. There is a filter icon which allows you to select only the activities you are interested in on the calendar. Also at the top of the home page is a link for “Tickets.” Here you can purchase advance tickets for our home games. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Parent Coffee Chat: Monday, September 14th<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We hope you will join us for our first Parent Coffee Chat<\/strong> on Monday, September 14th <\/strong>from 10:30-11:30 AM<\/strong>. We will begin in the cafeteria!<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is an opportunity to hear more about our schoolwide priorities, ask questions, visit classrooms, and see LCHS in action during a regular school day. We want families to have opportunities throughout the year to experience the work happening inside our classrooms and better understand where we are headed as a school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We would love to have you join us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lockdown Drill: Thursday, September 10th<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n As part of our continued commitment to student and staff safety, LCHS will conduct our first lockdown drill of the school year on Thursday, September 10th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our school uses the Standard Response Protocol from the \u201cI Love U Guys\u201d Foundation, which provides schools with clear, consistent language and procedures for responding to different types of emergencies. The framework includes five actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. During a lockdown, students and staff practice the specific procedures they would follow if there were a threat inside the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We recognize that lockdown drills can bring up a variety of emotions for students and families. At the same time, practicing these procedures is an important part of being prepared. Our goal is not to create fear, but to make sure students and staff understand what to do, can respond calmly, and are familiar with our safety procedures before we ever need them in a real situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we work to make LCHS a safe, welcoming, and academically strong school for every student. Students are settling into routines, building relationships, and engaging in learning across the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n SAVE THE DATE:<\/strong> Our first Parent Coffee Chat<\/strong> will be held on Monday, September 14th<\/strong>, from 10:30AM to 11:30AM<\/strong>. Families are invited to join us for a brief walk through classrooms to see teaching and learning in action, followed by time to connect, ask questions, and learn more about what is happening at LCHS. This will be the first of three Parent Coffee Chats offered throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A few celebrations from our first weeks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n NWEA MAP Growth Assessment <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Students in grades 6-11 will take the NWEA MAP Growth reading and math assessments during the week of August 31st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n MAP Growth is more than another test. It adapts to each student\u2019s responses and helps us understand what students currently know, where they are ready to grow, and what instruction or support they may need next. This first assessment gives us a beginning-of-year baseline. When students take it again later in the year, we will be able to measure their individual academic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Teachers will use the results alongside classroom work, observations, and other information to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because the assessment adapts to each student, some questions are expected to feel challenging. Students do not need to study. We simply ask that they take their time and give their best effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The assessment schedule is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please help your student get a good night\u2019s sleep before the assessment and eat breakfast at home or school. If possible, please avoid scheduling appointments on your student\u2019s assessment day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thank you for your continued support. We are off to a strong start and look forward to building on it in the weeks ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are glad you are a part of LCHS,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sports Report<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Lady Panther volleyball team beat Gilpin County in their opening contest by coming from behind and winning the last 3 sets!<\/p>\n\n\n\n High school boys’ soccer won their first game in 3 years, beating Caprock Academy 9-1!<\/p>\n\n\n\n High school cross country had a strong start to their season last Saturday in Basalt- the girls’ team took 2nd<\/sup> and the boys’ team was 3rd!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first home football game is TONIGHT at 7 pm. Come out and support your Panthers! <\/p>\n\n\n\n The high school mountain bike team takes to the trails at CMC tomorrow. When you click on a program, you will automatically be taken to the varsity level of that program. Click on the word Varsity at the top of the page and select the level you are looking for from the dropdown menu. Then click on Schedule to see and print the season’s schedule. You can also click the green Notifications button to select what notifications you would like to receive for your team. Click on the Panther head anytime to go back to the LCHS home page. Along the top of the home page, you can select Calendar to get a weekly or monthly view of everything going on at LCHS. There is a filter icon which allows you to select only the activities you are interested in on the calendar. Also at the top of the home page is a link for “Tickets.” Here you can purchase advance tickets for our home games.
