They stay connected to their teachers. They participate in discussions, labs, group work, and practice that cannot be replicated by simply making up assignments later. Strong attendance also builds habits that matter well beyond high school.

As we move through the semester, we ask families to continue prioritizing daily attendance whenever possible. If your student needs support, whether it is academic, social, or logistical, please reach out. We want to partner with you early.

CONFERENCES (Wednesday and Thursday)

We’re looking forward to welcoming families next week for conferences. As a reminder, the structure will look different for grades 7-8 and 9-12.

Grades 7-8: Families will sign up for a 30-minute conference with their student’s crew teacher. Students will be released at 11:30 AM both days. Conference times will run from 12:30-8:00 PM, with a teacher break from 4:00-5:00 PM.

Grades 9–12: High school students will follow a normal school day (8:00 AM-3:35 PM). Conferences will be drop-in, open house style from 5:00-8:00 PM, with no sign-up required. Students in grades 9-11 should bring a charged Chromebook to support course selection conversations.

If you need support, please contact the LCHS Front Office at 719-486-6950.

BELL SCHEDULE (2026-2027)

Starting next school year, our high school schedule (grades 9-12) will shift from a block schedule to a traditional period-by-period day, meaning students will attend each of their classes daily. Our junior high (grades 7-8) is already on a period schedule, and that structure will continue as we move to a consistent 6-12 model across the building. As a 6-12 school where many teachers work across grade levels, maintaining two different bell schedules has created challenges in staffing, consistency, and overall operations. Moving to one aligned schedule allows us to better support students and staff while creating more predictable routines throughout the day.

In this new structure, students will have a 36-minute Crew/Core/Post-Secondary time built into the day, along with seven 53-minute class periods. This design allows for consistent daily instruction while still protecting time for relationship-building, academic support, and postsecondary planning. It also better supports our student-athletes and those involved in activities, as they will miss less instructional time when traveling or participating in events.

We want to be clear that this shift will not limit opportunities for students. We will continue our strong partnerships with Colorado Mountain College and other community organizations to ensure access to concurrent enrollment, internships, and real-world learning experiences. We recognize this is a change and we appreciate your partnership as we continue to refine and strengthen the experience for all students at LCHS.

Looking forward to seeing you next week,

Scott Carroll

Principal

Lake County High School

Sports Report

CONGRATULATIONS to the HS Knowledge Bowl team!
