LCIS Sunday Night Shout Out 9-8-19
Dear LCIS Families,
We had another great week of learning at LCIS! Be sure to ask your child about what they’re learning in both English Language Arts (ELA) and math. This week all students participated in their first fire drill of the year. The students were fantastic! All students exited the building quickly, quietly and safely. They maintained line order while quietly waiting for the all clear to enter the building. We are so proud of our Panthers for showing responsibility!
Thank you for having your child to school by 8:00 every morning!
Road Alert! Partial closure of 6th Street is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 9th as Parkville Water will hook up a water line for St. Vincent Hospital’s new building. It is anticipated that the closure will span from 825 W. 6th Street (Lake County Public Health Agency and Lake County Build a Generation offices) to 50-75 feet east on 6th Street.
6th Street access to Lake County High School and Intermediate School will be accessible by 6th and McWethy during the closure. This scheduled closure is subject to change. Questions? Contact Greg Teter at Parkville Water 719-486-1449 or Jim Morrison at St. Vincent Hospital at 719-496-7188.
Dismissal begins at 3:30. If you need to change your child’s dismissal plan, you must call our main office before 3:00. The number to call is 719-486-6830.
DIBELS testing begins this week for 5th and 6th graders.
Lost & Found: There are already several items in the Lost and Found. We would love to unite the items with the owners – please ask your child to check the box near the elevator for anything from coats to shoes to lunch bags!
Panther Days!
If your child would like to participate in the upcoming Panther Day (full day programming when school is not in
session) on Monday, October 21 please remember to sign up by October 7th. If you have already filled out a salmon colored registration form for After School – Project Dream all you need to do is email Taylor Trelka (ttrelka@lakecountyschools.net) and let her know your child will be partaking in this Panther Day. If you did not fill out one of these forms please stop by the front office and fill one out. Please reach out to Taylor Trelka at the email listed above or call at 719-427-9404 for any questions or concerns.
Hi Parents/Guardians! Due to the many benefits of time in nature and our investment in strong school culture, we will spend an entire school day outdoors to focus on community building efforts with our crews. Get Outdoors Leadville!, Project Dream, and Rockies Rock staff will work with our teachers to facilitate a day of outdoor community building and learning at Turquoise Lake.
Our goals for this day are to:
- Connect as a smaller “crew family” within the larger grade-level and LCIS community
- Develop a deeper understanding of the Habits of a Learner
- Foster positive school-wide culture
- Establish a foundation for a trusting relationship with their crew teacher.
Students will be going on the following dates:
- 9/11 – 3rd grade Outdoor Community Building Day
- 9/12 – 4th grade Outdoor Community Building Day
- 9/13 – 5th grade Outdoor Community Building Day
Please see the appropriate grade-level letter attached if you are looking for more information.
If you have questions or would like to be a chaperone, please email or call Becca Katz (Becca speaks Spanish) – bkatz@lakecountyschools.net / 719.293.5169. We would be delighted to have you join us on our learning excursion, but please arrange care for siblings of students.
