LCIS SNSO 5-10-20
Dear LCIS Families,
Happy Mother’s Day to all of those wonderful moms out there!
We hope that your child has been experiencing some academic success by working through the packets or by joining the online learning. While this is not any of our preferred methods of doing school, we’re hopeful that your child has remained engaged with some learning over these past few weeks. During this past week, we honored our teachers during teacher appreciation week and we would like to extend that appreciation to you for all of the support you have given your children as their at home teacher. We are so thankful for all that you do!
This spring has been full of new opportunities! Students have embraced on line learning in the home environment and have been experiencing school from a whole new perspective. Since we are not able to have our regular school-wide Community Meeting, we would like to honor the following students for showing perseverance during the last quarter of the 2019-2020 school year.
3rd Grade: Mr. Hanger’s Class: Kimberly Medina / Mrs. Hanger’s Class: Dylan Ginder / Ms. Page’s Class: Hattie Mallozzi
4th Grade: Ms. Cerrone’s Class: Jennifer Rosales / Mr. Kim’s Class: Max Littlepage / Mrs. Warner’s Class Ernesto Raudales Galarza
5th Grade: Mrs. Brungardt’s Class: Rocio Reyes Garcia / Ms. Finck’s Class: Jordan Padilla / Mrs. Martin’s Class: Navaeh Barrela
6th Grade: Ms. Beery’s Class: Liliana Guzman / Ms. Forget’s Class: Iliany Romero Carias / Mrs. Pongrekun’s Class: Jaiylen Morales
On Monday, May 11 from 8-4 and Tuesday May 12 from 3-7 we will host our final packet pick up at LCIS for only grades 3-6. At this time we plan to distribute:
- the last two weeks of distant learning
- summer learning opportunities
- student belongings
Currently, your child’s teacher is gathering up his/her belongings and preparing them for you to take home. During these two days, we will also have our lost and found items displayed on hanging racks near the parking lot exit available for you to check for your child’s missing items.
Please return any LCIS library books that your child has checked out when you come to pick up their personal belongings on Monday 5/11/2020.
Distribution of items during these two days will follow the same structure: parents will enter the LCIS parking lot from 6th street, drive up to the cone at the front entrance, remain in their vehicles and tell the LCIS staff member their child s name and grade level. The staff member will bring your child’s items to you. Please only plan to get out of your vehicle if you want to look at the lost and found items and remember to follow social distancing recommendations.
We will be mailing report cards home the week of May 11th. These reports will reflect student progress through March 13, 2020. If your mailing address has changed since registration, please leave a message with the LCIS office at 719-486-6830.
If your child has borrowed a Chromebook for distant learning, he/she may continue to keep and use the Chromebook for the duration of the summer. We will plan to collect the Chromebooks at the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We hope that having the use of the Chromebooks has enabled your child to continue with some of their online learning programs as well as connect with his/her teacher through Google Classroom. The online learning programs, such as Lexia, Dreambox and Khan Academy will continue to be available throughout the summer even though Google Classroom will end on May 22, 2020. There will be an IT person on call this summer so if you have any problems with your Chromebook, you can email helpdesk@lakecountyschools.net for support.
