LCIS SNSO 8/30/20
Hello LCIS Families!
LCIS is starting school on August 31! We are so excited to have learners in our building again. Thank you for coming to Orientation Conferences last week to help ground our learning for the first four weeks of school. We look forward to our educational partnership this year!
On the first day of school for your child you may need to know the following information:
Drop begins at 7:45 a.m. using the car loop near the 6th street entrance. Please stay in your car and pull up to the staff member holding the stop sign before letting your child exit the car. Please make sure your child is wearing their face covering before exiting the vehicle as these are required for entering the building. For safety reasons, students will not be allowed to cross the parking lot unaccompanied by an adult. If you need to enter the building with your child, please park in designated areas and proceed to the front doors together. If your child is a walker remind them to use the sidewalks and enter through the main doors wearing their face covering. Bike riders may lock up their bikes at either of the available bike racks and proceed to the main entrance wearing their face covering.
When students enter the building, they will go to their grade level area in the main foyer to check in with the LCIS staff. They will either hand in the At Home Screening ticket that has been completed at home or they will need to complete the screening with the staff member before proceeding to the classroom. Students will then have breakfast in the classroom as they have done in the past and begin learning for the day.
At the end of the school day, students will be dismissed from their classrooms by categories; walkers, parent pick-up, and bus riders. Students who are being picked up will proceed to the car loop and wait for their parent to reach the proper area. For safety reasons, students will not be allowed to cross the parking lot without an adult.
Note: if your student is enrolled in the 2nd Day Supports Program with 100 Elk Outdoor Center, they will attend in person every day – in their classroom on their A or B days, and busing down to the 100 Elk Outdoor Center in Buena Vista on the days they are not in the classroom. LCIS students who do not ride the bus to school can be dropped off for the 100 Elk program at the Community Field between 7:45-8:00 and be picked up between 2:45-3:15.
Meals during Yellow Phase Reopening
LCSD will provide meals for all students during the first 4 weeks of school reopening (August 31-September 24). Daily meals will include breakfast, lunch, and supper. Breakfast and supper will be provided, while the cost of lunch is based on the student’s normal rate. It is very important that all families fill out the free/reduced form that was included with registration packets.
Please see this post on the Lake County Schools website for more information regarding meal distribution.
Cross Country Running practice has started! You can still join the team by contacting coach Pat Cade at pcade@lakecountyschools.net.
As we have done for the past few years, LCIS will welcome creative, non-food, ways to acknowledge birthdays and holidays. Please see the letter regarding Healthy Celebrations at LCIS in your child’s end of week folder. Thank you for helping us make sure all students can be included in all of the classroom events
