LCIS Communication to Families 11/12/20
Hello LCIS Families,
As you have likely heard, our school district has moved into the “Red” remote status for the next six days of school beginning Monday, November 16 through Tuesday November 24 . We anticipate returning to our hybrid in-person learning, “Yellow” on Monday November 30th. The shift to a remote instructional model is a result of staffing shortages both current and anticipated that would limit our ability to safely and effectively host school.
Our fabulous LCIS staff is prepared to make this shift and has sent your child home with the necessary materials for the next two weeks. Your child should have come home with their Chomebook, a paper packet of grade level work, and any other materials specific to their grade level, such as an ELA notebook. If your child was absent on Thursday, November 12 or had left the school early and did not bring home their materials, please stop by the school to pick them up. We will be open on Friday 11/13/20, Monday through Thursday 11/16-11/19 and the following Monday and Tuesday 11/23 and 11/24, from 8am to 4pm. each day.
On Monday and Tuesday, all LCIS teachers will be in contact with their students via email and/or Google Meets. All students are already connected to their teachers through their Google Classroom and this is where they will find the link for their Google Meets when they begin to hold class online. We anticipate all students engaging with online classes beginning on Wednesday November 18 at the latest. Every teacher will share their class’s daily schedule so that students will know when to join their Google Meet for their crew, math and ELA sessions. At this time we are not planning to schedule Specials or Explore classes virtually. Students may receive a communication from these teachers with enrichment activities.
Students who are currently enrolled in virtual school will continue to attend classes following their normal schedule.
We are all feeling the emotions that come with this transition to “Red”. Please know that we are here for your child and we encourage you to reach out to us in the main office or your child’s teacher with any questions, concerns or needs.
We are hoping you all stay safe and healthy and have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We look forward to seeing you on November 30th!
