LCIS FASO 2/12/21
Hello LCIS Families,
It was nice to have our students back in the building! We were thankful that almost every cohort was able to return to learning in person. While we are completely understanding of personal choices and family preferences, we passionately believe that students learn best when they are able to be with their teachers. Thank you for your continued patience and support with the ever-changing pandemic parameters.
Remember! This is a four-day weekend! We have no school on Monday due to President’s Day. We will have school on Friday, February, 19, so that we can still have a full week of school.
Conferences are coming up soon! Parents and students will be meeting with teachers virtually on March 3rd and 4th from noon to 8 p.m. Students will have school on both days from 7:45-11:15. Please see the attached letter for more information. You may use the following link to schedule your conference: https://www.flashappointments.com/client/lgn/mobile.cfm?busId=13089
We are so excited to celebrate the growth and progress of our students!
Sports Update: Boys’s Basketball will officially start on Tuesday, February 16th. Practices will take place in the LCIS gym from 3:45-5:30 Monday-Thursday. It is not too late to join! Athletes will need to have a physical and a completed sports packet. The coaches are Jamie Peters and Jon Lenhard. Here is Coach Peters’s contact information: email: jpeters@lakecountyschools.net phone (719-293-5244). Go Panthers!
Please join Project Dream and GOL! at Huck Finn on Saturday, February 27th for a family ice-skating celebration! There will be cookies, hot chocolate, and tons of fun! GOL! Will cover all costs for rental and admission fees. In order to comply with Public Health regulations we ask that you come to the rink during the following times as assigned by your last name.
- 9:00-10:00: A-K
- 10:00-11:00: L-P
- 11:00-12:00: Q-Z
Please note this is a family event and families are expected to stay with their children while at the rink. We hope to see you there!
Third graders hosted the virtual LCIS Community Meeting for February. They did a great job highlighting their learning from their 10th Mountain Soldiers unit. Below, Maylin Reyes reads “Never give up. Never, never, never, never.”. This quote is attributed to Winston Churchill during WWII and it ties in nicely with our Habit of a Learner – “Perseverance”!
Mr. Kim’s 4th graders are conducting small group research activities to find out more about their expert animals!
Reading is Awesome!
Mrs. Osborn reads “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” by Judy Blume to her virtual students. The book focuses on 9-year-old Peter Hatcher’s frustration with the horrendous behavior demonstrated by his annoying 2½-year-old brother, Fudge, who frequently goes unpunished. They are in the last chapter and can’t wait for the conclusion. Thank you so much, Mrs Osborn, for reading to our students no matter what!
