LCIS FASO 4-23-21
Hello LCIS Families,
As we continue to wait patiently for some warm spring weather, our students are still enjoying plenty of outdoor time. Our Project Dream, GOL! and Full Circle partners are still actively involved with our daily schedules and we are so thankful that this partnership is continuing!
LCIS will conduct CMAS testing for 3rd – 5th grade students this week! Our 6th grade students will test the week of May 3rd. In order to ensure the best testing environment and results, please make sure that your child has a good night’s rest and is at school on time. Students test best when they are on their regular schedule with their teacher and classmates. Please consider scheduling appointments after testing has been completed. The state has taken into consideration the challenges encountered by public schools during the last year due to COVID 19. Students in grades 3 and 5 will only be required to take the English Language Arts assessment. Students in grades 4 and 6 will only be required to take the Math assessment. Each test requires 3 different sessions lasting up to 90 minutes each. We are excited to see how our students have grown during the last school year with its unprecedented challenges.
LCIS celebrated Earth Day this week by cleaning up our campus and surrounding areas. Thank you, Specials and Explore teams, for encouraging our students to be more aware of our precious planet!
LCIS students are able to eat in the cafeteria again! As the COVID 19 restrictions are slowly being lifted, we are able to resume many of our regular routines including having lunch together – safely! First, students line up and wash their hands, then the awesome cafeteria staff fills their tray, then they eat their lunch at the socially distanced tables. We are one giant step closer to “regular” lunches!
Rockies Rock Enrollment is now OPEN!!!!
We are already thinking about next year! If your child will be in 6th grade next year, they will need a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) immunization before the 2021-2022 school year. Letters from the Colorado Department of Health will be sent home with more details.
Reading is Awesome!
Ms. Lana, one of our awesome Project Dream partners, is leading a novel study for our 5th graders this quarter. They are reading “Crossing the Wire” by Will Hobbs. This is a a book about a teenage boy hoping to help his loved ones by making the dangerous journey across the Mexican border into the United States. Everyone is enjoying this action/ adventure book!
