LCIS FASO 5-7-21
Hello LCIS Families,
We did it! We completed our scheduled CMAS testing for the 2020-2021 school year. There are a few make-up tests to complete next week, but the majority of our students showed perseverance, responsibility, and respect throughout the last two weeks by doing their best to showcase their knowledge. We are really thankful that we were only required to administer one of the content area assessments because that allowed our teachers and students to spend more time on academics in the classroom. We are especially proud of our 3rd and 4th graders because this is the first time they had ever been required to take the state test. Way to go LCIS students and staff!
We would like to say “thank you!” to all of the students and families that wished the staff at LCIS a Happy Teacher Appreciation Week last week. We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with you and your children and we are looking forward to finishing this challenging school year together.
Students in Ms. Page’s classroom play math bingo using dice and all of their multiplication skills. This game is so challenging! They were having a great time doing math!
Rockies Rock Enrollment is now OPEN!!!!
We are already thinking about next year! If your child will be in 6th grade next year, they will need a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) immunization before the 2021-2022 school year. Please contact the LCIS office or Lake County Public Health if you have any questions.
Reading is Awesome!
Ms. Kortkamp, the LCIS Dean of Literacy, has been busy all week administering the DIBELS ( Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) test to our students. This is a one-to-one test that measures the fluency, comprehension, and accuracy of the reader. Teachers can use this data to create small groups during our Panther Group time. The good news? The scores are increasing in spite of the COVID-19 challenges!
