LCIS FASO 9/10/21
Hello LCIS Families!
Thank you for sending your child to school ready to learn every day! Students should always come to school with their Chromebooks and a water bottle each day. Our water fountains are currently closed and students can fill up water bottles from classroom sinks as needed.
Beginning on Monday, students will be allowed to remove their masks during outdoor recess time as we did during the first weeks of school. We’re so appreciative of our LCIS community for understanding our request to wear masks outside at recess over the past few weeks as we responded to positive cases in our building. We appreciate your continued flexibility and understanding as we move forward in navigating all things COVID. While the mask mandate will not be a current practice, your child is still welcome to wear their mask outdoors.
We will kick off our fall class culture days this week with 6th graders heading out to Turquoise Lake Thursday, September 16, for a day filled with crew activities. Students will be outside from 9-3pm, so please help to make sure that your 6th grader has packed a sun hat, water bottle, sunscreen, jacket and anything else they may need to enjoy the day outdoors.
NWEA testing took place this week. Many students showed growth in both reading and math. We’re so proud of our students for taking their time on these assessments and committing to their academics while at school and at home. You and your child will review their scores with their teacher at Fall Conferences on October 27th and 28th.
Are you, or is someone that you know interested in becoming more active in our schools? The Lake County School District is actively hiring substitute teachers for this school year. Pay starts at $132 a day. Please reach out to Bunny Taylor btaylor@lakecountyschools.net or call 719-293-0738 for more information or to sign up for this fantastic opportunity.
Please remember, there will be no Project Dream Friday Programming this Friday (9/17). Teachers will be in the building for professional development and we want to respect their learning space. We look forward to seeing you again next Friday (9/24) for another day filled with fun! Please reach out to Blanca Rodriguez (719-293-0115) with any questions.

LCIS students have been hard at work creating outdoor artwork inspired by the creations of famous sculpture artist Andy Goldsworthy. Come enjoy music, art and a cup of hot chocolate!
