LCIS FASO 9/24/21
Hello LCIS Families!
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Forest Gallery Walk and Open House this week! This combined event brought in a large number of families who were able to enjoy the outdoor artwork and visit classrooms and meet with teachers. It was great to see so many students pointing to the documentation panels and sharing their learning experiences with their families. Thank you, Ms. Good, for teaching us all about Andy Goldsworthy and the beauty of outdoor art!
Students in 5th grade went to Turquoise Lake for their Culture Day on Wednesday. The weather was beautiful and the students were able to participate in many fun activities including: Survivor on the Beach, Pine Needle Foraging and Tea, and Turquoise Lake Olympics.
Our 4th graders will get to go to Turquoise Lake this Wednesday, September 29th. Please check the weather to make sure to send your child with layers of clothing so that they will be able to comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. Also be sure to send them with a full water bottle. The 3rd graders will go to their Culture Day on October 6th. We are looking forward to enjoying the beautiful fall colors and weather before winter comes!
Next week is Homecoming week for LCSD! Students are invited to participate and celebrate by dressing up according to this schedule created by the LCHS Student Senate:
We will have a Homecoming Pep Rally at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28th with special presentations by the LCIS Drumline, the LCHS Band, and the LCHS Cheerleaders.
There will be a parade on Harrison avenue at 4 pm on Thursday, 9/20, to kick off the weekend athletics and activities. Here is a special note from the Student Senate:
Hello Lake County Friends and Families! LCHS Student Senate would like to ask for your participation in the homecoming parade on September 30th at 4 pm, on Harrison Avenue. The float theme will be Disney. We are hopeful that you will consider picking up your families from school that day rather than ride the buses home. We would love it if you brought your family to come support The Lake County Panthers and possibly march alongside us. The parade is open to all so please bring your kids, your families and your dogs, if you’d like! Make a plan to pick up your students and take them to Harrison Avenue for this special event and don’t forget to wear your purple and gold!
Sincerely,
LCHS Student Senate
Are you, or is someone that you know interested in becoming more active in our schools? The Lake County School District is actively hiring substitute teachers for this school year. Pay starts at $132 a day. Please reach out to Bunny Taylor btaylor@lakecountyschools.net or call 719-293-0738 for more information or to sign up for this fantastic opportunity.
Each year our schools have an official day in which attendance of students is counted. This count of students is used to calculate funding our district will receive from the state. Typically this count date is October 1st. Because we run a four day calendar and will not have school on October 1st, our official count day will be September 30th. Thank you in advance for your support of having students in attendance on September 30th this year.
