LCIS FASO 10/1/21
Hello LCIS Families!
We have had such a fun Homecoming Week here at LCIS. So many students dressed up for spirit week, really showing their panther pride. A huge shout out to the High School students who led our pep rally on Tuesday. We all had a great time learning panther cheers from the cheerleaders, celebrating the athletes and listening to the LCHS band.
Our 4th graders went to the Fish Hatchery on Wednesday. The colder weather made the activities a little bit challenging, but the students and teachers powered through the morning events and came back to school a little early. They were able to build teepees / temporary homes and have a picnic under the shelter of the pavilion before they returned to LCIS. We are so proud of your collaboration and perseverance!
The 6th grade students and teachers hosted our September Community Meeting in the gym on Thursday. They highlighted their learning surrounding Greek Mythology which included a quote from Socrates and a mini play about Pandora’s Box. Their presentation was well thought out and exemplified the best characteristics of our scholars. We were also given a chance to hear the LCIS Drum Line and they sounded great!
Our 5th grade students will host our next Community Meeting on October 21 in the LCIS Gym. You are welcome to join us for this fun event that begins at 8:10. Their presentation will include honoring the scholars of the month for the habit of Respect. You can help us to build a culture of respect by talking about what respect looks like and sounds like both at home and at school.
Join Project Dream on October 19th for our next Family Learning Institute – Family Math Night! We will have a presenter from each school talking about the math standards we cover, how we teach math, and how you can support your student at home. This event will be held in the cafeteria of LCES from 5:30-7:00pm. Dinner is included. Hope to see you there!
Please remember, there will be no Project Dream Friday Programming on Friday (10/8). Teachers will be in the building for professional development and we want to respect their learning space. We look forward to seeing you again next Friday (10/15) for another day filled with fun! Please reach out to Blanca Rodriguez (719-293-0115) with any questions.
Our annual evacuation drill to the Lutheran Church will take place on October 14th. Students and staff members will be able to experience what would happen if it was necessary to leave our building due to safety concerns. Practicing these procedures will ensure that everyone is comfortable and calm in an emergency situation. Please talk with your child about the importance of safey at school. As always, please call the main office at 719-486-6830 if you have any questions or concerns.
Please hold the date for Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 27 and 28 from noon until 8 pm. Watch for more information in the coming weeks!
