LCIS FASO 10/15/21
Hello LCIS Families!
We have had another lovely week of learning at LCIS. Students participated in their grade level team meetings where they focused on respect, our habit of the month. Students talked about how it is important to have respect for yourself and others and a good first step to showing respect is by being kind to yourself and others. Every day we see and hear our students showing respect to others as they hold the door open for each, include each other at recess, and say please and thank you. We appreciate that you are also taking time to elevate the habit of respect at home.
The cold weather really showed up this past week. Thank you for making sure that your child came to school prepared to be outside for recess. Students certainly seem to enjoy their time outdoors more when they are dressed appropriately for the weather. If your child is in need of a coat, hat, gloves or boots, please fill out the form that came home in their Thursday Folder. All forms should be returned to the school by October 28.
Students in 3rd grade used papier mache to create topographic maps of Colorado during their Social Studies/Science hour. The students were asked to create and paint the 3 geographical regions in our state; the plains, the mountains, and the plateau. What a great way to learn about our beautiful state!
The students in Mr. Kim’s 4th grade class are participating in a Classroom Economy Project. There are jobs and systems in place that are based on a money structure. Students earn money by completing their homework or writing a book report among other things. On the opposite side of the proverbial coin, students may be fined for doing such things as being off task or being rude. Students have jobs that contribute to their classroom society. The scholars in Mr. Kim’s room are reinforcing the LCIS Habits of a Learner, like responsibility and collaboration. Thanks Mr. Kim!
