Hello LCIS Families!
We are looking forward to our Fall Student-Led Conferences are next week! Conferences will be held on Wednesday 10/26 and Thursday 10/27 from 12-8 pm. Students will have a half day of school each day beginning at 8:05 and ending at 11:15. Lunch will take place before dismissal and busses will run their regular routes. Remember that breakfast is served at 7:45. To sign up for your child’s conference, please use this link: conference appointment
Don’t forget to visit the Scholastic Book Fair while you are at your conference! There will be lots of fun books to purchase in the LCIS Library on both conference nights. You may pay with cash, check or credit card. All of the proceeds from this super fun sale will benefit the libraries at both LCIS and LCES. Come check it out! Books make great gifts!
There will be no Project Dream programs on October 26th & 27th due to conferences. Please be sure to contact the school’s front office to make transportation arrangements for your student on these days. We will resume programming as normal on October 28th with Friday programs.
Lake County Public Health will be providing vaccine clinic during conferences at LCES. Any students who need or want a vaccine are welcome to go to the Lake County Elementary School between 12 and 8 pm on Oct 26 and 27. If you have Insurance (even Medicaid), please bring your insurance card. If you don’t have insurance and/or cannot pay, you will not be charged. This is a great opportunity for families!
🎃🎃🎃🎃Halloween is coming! Students are invited to come to school in their costumes. Masks and weapons are not appropriate for school. If a student wears make-up as part of their costume, they must still be able to participate in all aspects of school. Please do not send your child with any face paint or makeup for reapplication. Please consider sending a change of clothes for your child in the event that they would like to change out of their costume. Here is a schedule for the grade level celebrations:
3rd grade – 2:50-3:20 4th grade – 2:25-2:50 5th grade – 2:00-2:30 6th grade- 8:05-8:30
Please do not send any food with your child on Halloween with the expectation that it will be shared with others. If your child does bring food to school, it will be returned home with them at the end of the day. If you would like to send a little Halloween prize to be shared you may, but this is not expected. Little prizes may include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc..
LCIS will be selling Halloween Smencils on October 27th for $2 each. If there are any left, we will also sell them on Monday, October 31st. All proceeds will benefit our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program. PBiS is designed to acknowledge and celebrate the actions that make students successful in school. One of the events that your purchase will support is the pizza lunch for the crews with the best attendance during the month of October. Students love Smencils!
Please join the Lake County Housing Coalition for the First Annual Fair Housing Fair on Friday, October 21st, from 4-7 PM at Freight (320 E 9th St). We will have fair-style games, including a pie toss booth, ring toss, dart balloons, as well as cotton candy, and popcorn. We will be having a discussion about why the housing we want is not being built and Lake County and what community members can do to be part of the solution.
