LCIS Friday Afternoon Shout Out 3-17-23
Hello LCIS Families,
We hope that you have a fabulous spring break! School will return on Monday, March 27.
Spring break is a fabulous time for your child to snuggle up with a good book or crush some of those math skills on IXL when they’re not out playing or relaxing. There will be a special prize for the class that has logged the most IXl questions completed.
With the arrival of spring, comes many events at LCIS. Below are some of the highlights, but for more events please check the calendar at the end of the shout out.
👟 March 27th: Middle School (grades 6-8) Track and Field begins.
⚽ March 25th: First Middle School Boys and Girls Soccer games at Gypsum Creek.
🙋 March 29th: LCIS Community Meeting led by 4th grade in the gym. 8:05-8:30. Scholars of the month will be awarded for the habit of curiosity.
🏫 March 30th: LCIS Lockdown drill. Students and staff will practice what to do in case of a threat inside the building. This is our second lockdown drill this year so that students will become increasingly comfortable with this drill.
🖼️ April 4th: Lifetouch will take class photos and individual photos. A notice was sent home with your child and order forms will come home the week following spring break.
🥞 April 5th: LCIS Attendance Celebration! Students who have had 95% attendance for Jan-Mar will be able to participate in a waffle breakfast.
📝 April 10-27: Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) testing will take place. During the first week of testing, all LCIS students will take one ELA assessment each day, Monday through Wednesday. During the second week, all LCIS students will take one Math assessment each day, Monday through Wednesday. Fifth graders will also take one science test a day during that second week. Make-up assessments will take place throughout the entire testing window. Please do your best to have your child here every day for testing during this time.
🎬 Without a movie theater or bowling alley in town, it can be hard to find something for the whole family to do on a Friday night. First Baptist Church of Leadville has a solution! On the fourth Friday of every month, we will be hosting a family friendly movie night on our giant (and we mean GIANT) screen. Due to our licensing, we are unable to publicly advertise the movie titles, but you can find out which popular movie we are showing each month by emailing church@fbcleadville.com or calling the church at 719-486-1321. Come check it out for our next movie night on Friday, March 24th at 6:00pm. You bring the family and friends, we’ll provide the popcorn!
☃️Do you currently have snow in your area? Generation Wild Colorado is looking for volunteers to build a snowman for a patient at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Volunteers will get matched up with a patient who has a cool vision for a snow friend, and is hoping to see it come to life. All Colorado resident volunteers will be entered into a sweepstakes to win some sweet REI gear. Sign up to brighten a patient’s day today. The deadline to build a snowman is March 28. Please contact cmedrano@goco.org with any questions. #SayHiWithASnowman
