The afternoon starts with snacks and free time in the gym and then students are allowed to choose one of many fun clubs including: Cooking, Legos, Biking, Outdoor Club, STEM, Guitar, and Art. After participating in some fun and engaging activities, students then focus on academics for the last 45 minutes. Thank you Project Dream for providing a meaningful experience for our students every day!<\/p>\n\n\n Hiring committee Elementary principal stakeholder feedback sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Are you interested in participating in the Lake County Elementary School principal hiring process? We are looking for stakeholders of staff, parents and community members to engage in this process. We anticipate running a process similar to that of the high school principal, in which candidates will rotate through interviews with different stakeholder groups and provide feedback. If you would like to be involved, we would appreciate that you use this form to sign up. We anticipate the stakeholder interview sessions to be held the week of May 13-17. We intend to follow this event up with a staff and community meet and greet of finalists that would be open to the public the week of May 20th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It is time again for our 33rd Annual Cleanup-Greenup!<\/strong>\u00a0 On May 18th, volunteers will meet at Riverside Park in Salida and work together to clean up 152 miles of the Arkansas River watershed in preparation for spring runoff.\u00a0 We will also be hosting a Gear Up For Summer event in Riverside Park in Salida the same day, where we will give free PFDs to the first 50 youth.\u00a0 <\/strong>Other community organizations will be present, helping our community to gear up for a safe and fun summer. Please see the flier below for further details!<\/p>\n\n\n\n ACADEMIC UPDATE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 6th Grade: <\/strong> Ms. Campbell\u2019s Crew worked together with Mrs. Talbot\u2019s support this past week to successfully complete the Pipeline Challenge! Following the completion of the task the students discussed that when we stay connected, communicate clearly, and support each other, we can all experience success. Mrs. Talbot will continue to support this crew next week as we welcome our new long-term substitute, Ms. Kepner.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 6-8 Math Curriculum Audit Team shared their recommendation for Reveal Math to be adopted at the middle school level, grades 6-8. <\/strong>After close review, the team believes that Reveal Math will provide fluency work and scaffolded materials, differentiated work from the remedial to advanced, and real-life problem-solving opportunities, making it a potential good match for all our students. The materials are available in both English and Spanish, and they connect directly to MAP data from NWEA allowing students to use their math results for targeted skills practice recommendations.
