We have had a fantastic first semester that has included great activities, events and learning experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3rd-5th graders attended a fall Cornerstone event hosted by GOL! focused on team building<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6th graders attended a fall COBS program focused on leadership and teambuilding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>September brought our Outdoor Art Show and Open House<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our community meetings have focused on celebrating student work\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>September 6th graders shared personal narratives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>October 5th graders shared original poems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>November 4th graders also shared original poems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>December 3rd graders will perform Androcles and the Lion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3rd graders visited the zoo to research animals in October<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4th graders have been deep into the study of multiplication and division<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5th graders read and wrote about the Adventures of Don Quixote<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6th graders have learned about Industrialization in America<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We\u2019ve had three Rizzler Rewards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving Lunch with so many of you!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We\u2019ve rewarded nine families for strong student attendance with pizza\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Our attendance rate is hovering at 94.25% for the first semester<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We have so much to be proud of at LCIS and as our students complete semester one it\u2019s fun to think back on these experiences and successes. We will also celebrate our Scholars of the Month for Craftsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attendance Celebration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, the class with the best attendance for the month of December will have a special attendance celebration hosted by Mrs. Cook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HOWL Reward<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, students across the building will participate in our Habits of Work and Learning (HOWL) reward. Not only will students have the opportunity to wear their pajamas that day, but teachers will be designing a fun activity or showing a holiday movie for students to enjoy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Multilingual Assessment: ACCESS during January<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are English Language Learners will be taking the Access test in January. This is an exciting opportunity for students to demonstrate the English skills they\u2019ve developed in the past year. The test consists of four domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Each domain will be tested separately. Ask your multilingual scholar to show you the practice test online! They can open it from the home screen of their Chromebook, or you can use the WIDA website.
