Please read on and mark your calendars!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our End of Year DIBELS testing continues this week <\/strong>for any student who missed testing last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our students will begin taking the <strong>ELA and Math Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments<\/strong> from the Northwest Evaluation Association NWEA next week. These assessments measure current academic levels and monitor a student\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday, May 13th our 6th graders will go to Denver to the Molly Brown Museum. <\/strong>There they will learn more about her survival story from her time on the Titanic. The 6th graders begin their final ELA unit on the Titanic soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday, May 13th,<\/strong> we will be conducting our second Lockdown Drill of the school year. We have sent an email with more details.&nbsp; Please call if you have any questions.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Friday, May 15th, the 6th grade band students<\/strong> will travel to Elitch\u2019s for a musical performance followed by some fun at the park. <strong>Students must be at the high school by 6am to begin loading the bus<\/strong>. Performers must wear their Lake County Band Shirt&nbsp; Also, please be aware; <strong>Elitch\u2019s does not accept cash<\/strong> &#8211; only cards.&nbsp; We expect the band to return to Leadville at 6pm&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One very exciting event coming up is our annual Celebration of Learning on June 10th from 6:00-7:15.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lideres Latinx and LCSD are collaborating to sponsor <strong>Convivio<\/strong>, a family potluck celebrating our different food cultures. Convivio happens on <strong>June 10 at LCIS<\/strong>, right before the Celebration of Learning. Please bring food to the LCIS gym no later than 4:30pm. The event will be from <strong>5-6pm<\/strong>. Then families will be encouraged to visit students across all grade levels to share in the joy of learning. Students are always so excited to share their work with you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Upcoming:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday, May 20th is the day that many students have been waiting for- the Rockies Baseball Game! If your child has missed \u00bd day of school or less this year, they automatically earned a ticket for the game. Many students also received a ticket due to showing perseverance on the CMAS assessments in April. They explored our region\u2019s Native American history. Stress, anxiety, and end-of-year transitions can impact how students feel and perform.
