The Center’s updated Illness and Symptom Screener Tool
Dear Families,
Thank you so much for all of your hard work on keeping your children and our school healthy! We know that all of these COVID precautions are hard and constantly changing and we appreciate your time and diligence to support the process.
We wanted to take a minute to explain some changes with the onset of cold and flu season. We know it is hard to judge whether your child has a cold, the flu, or something more severe, and we acknowledge that kids are prone to more colds than adults.
However, since many of the symptoms of COVID and a cold are the same, we have to be extra careful at this time.
Therefore, we recommend that if you keep your child home for more than two (2) days you take them in to get tested and report the findings to us as soon as you have them.
This is done in an abundance of caution for the other students in the classroom, our staff, but mostly the health of your child.
Please expect that when you call your child in, we may also recommend testing based upon symptoms you are telling us about. Many of the symptoms will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Testing for COVID is free at Rocky Mountain Family Practice. You can reach their office at 719-486-0500.
You can see the form we use to help guide our decision making process for each child who calls in or for children we have to send home during the school day in English or espanol. Just click on the language you prefer to download the form.
Please reach out to any of us if you have questions or concerns about this, we are happy to explain or just talk through the guidelines.
Thank you for taking the time to help us keep children, families, and staff healthy.
