For Parents:
\n<\/strong> The Universal Preschool Program is a state funded school readiness program, providing at least 15 hours a week of early childhood education at no cost to parents.\u00a0 Children must be 4 years old by October 1 of the program year.\u00a0 Families must apply for this program both at The Center and online on the UPK website.\u00a0 Application assistance is available on site.\u00a0 Some families may qualify for additional no-cost preschool hours based on risk factors.\u00a0 The program runs Monday through Thursday each week following the school district calendar.<\/p>\n

UPK in Lake County is currently housed at the Center and offers students a well-rounded early childhood experiences using the Creative Curriculum.\u00a0 All staff have been trained in developmentally appropriate practice and how to support children in getting ready for Kindergarten academically, socially, physically and behaviorally.<\/p>\n

Children have regularly scheduled times to play with friends inside and outside, interact with books and stories, learn songs and dances, experience a variety of learning centers, participate in field trips and also learn through projects in a variety of domains.<\/p>\n
