There are people who can help you take steps to feel safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If you are experiencing violence at home:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, <strong>it is\nnot your fault.<\/strong> You and your family deserve to be safe. Here\u2019s what you can\ndo to make that happen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you are in physical danger, <strong>call 911 immediately<\/strong><\/li><li>Call the Advocates of Lake County at <strong>(719) 486-3530 <\/strong>to talk about ways      we can help you stay safe<\/li><li>Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline for services outside Lake County at <strong>800-799-7233<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can\u2019t call the Advocates right away, make a safety plan for you and your family. Ask family members and friends for help if necessary. Try to call as soon as you can; they have resources that can help you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If you suspect someone else is being abused:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reach out. Your\nintervention could save a life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Don\u2019t be afraid to tell them you are worried about their safety. <\/li><li>Acknowledge that they are in a very difficult and scary situation. <\/li><li>Be supportive and believe them. <\/li><li>Be non-judgmental and respect their decisions. <\/li><li>Help them find a way to safety and peace in their own time. <\/li><li>Help them develop a safety plan. <\/li><li>Encourage them to talk to people who can provide help and guidance. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotline for the Advocate of Lake County is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
