Dear LCSD Staff:
I hope this finds you well given our unusual summer here in Lake County. The Willow Fire has obviously been a huge challenge and distraction for all of us. As we head into the new year, I want to acknowledge that the cumulative impact of this on our staff, our families and our students shouldn’t be ignored or discounted. Handling each other with care is going to be something we may need to do for some time. We’ve got this!
In that spirit, I want to lift up that we are offering two free classes to support mental health for LCSD staff as part of our beginning of year schedule. Local instructor and LCSD parent Erin Watkins will be leading these and we will hold them in the LCES gym. No experience is necessary! If you crave a little quiet time and grounding as the school year ramps up, please join us. See details below.
Finally, I believe that 2026-27 is a year of great opportunity for LCSD. As we open our newly reconfigured schools and begin implementation of our five-year strategic plan, I am filled with anticipation and hope. I look forward to spending the year with all of you.
