Update from the Principal, Ms. Fitz

*The Celebration of Learning at West Park Elementary will be held on December 5, from 6:00-7:00p.m. Students will go to their classrooms and families will go to the gym. We will have headsets for simultaneous interpretation in Spanish. The evening will begin with a Community Meeting in the gym at 6:00, followed by classroom presentations in each K-2 classroom. Students are expected to remain with their classroom teacher for the entire evening. Please have your students arrive around 5:45 to set up in their classrooms.
*Please make sure your child comes to school with snow clothes so we can have fun outside: hat, snowpants, gloves, and boots! We build independence by having children get their gear on by themselves. If you are missing an item, please check our lost and found. If your child is in need of winter gear, please let their teacher or the office know!
*Does your kindergartener ride a bus? In order to keep the safety of our youngest bus riders at the forefront, we ask that all kindergarten bus riders be greeted by a designated adult at the bus stop. To ensure a safe transfer of the student, we will now be asking that the designated adult sign the child off of the bus with the bus driver. This allows an increase in the care for our kindergarten riders and assures that they are safely transferred to the designated adult at the end of each day. It is best practice to bring a photo ID in case the driver needs to confirm your identity. Joyce will send home a list of the current designated adults for your child; please update it with any other adult names and confirm all contact information. In the event no designated adult is present to sign the kindergartener off of the bus, the driver will notify Joyce LaCome (Transportation Director) who will call the listed contacts to pick up the child at a designated safe area. Feel free to reach out to Joyce LaCome, Transportation Director, with any questions or concerns at any time. Her cell phone is 719-221-1017.
* Leadville Elks Lodge 236 is holding their Hoop Shoot on Dec. 15th at the high school. Doors will open at 8:00 and the competition will begin at 9:00 am. Participants need to be 8-13 as of April 1, 2020.
