West Park Weekly Parent Update 1/10/2021
Greetings, WPE families!
*Welcome back after the first week of school for 2021! It was a week of happy times in getting to see one another again and jumping back into our fun learning together.
*There is so much to be grateful for within our WPE family and please know that educating your children is a task we accept with joy and humility. I am so proud of our students, staff and families for all that we’ve accomplished and learned in the past nine months! We know that this is not a permanent situation in education, or in our lives, so I hope we can be patient while we wait for changes to help us all be safer and healthier in the upcoming year.
*We hope that you found your child’s progress report in their folder this week. We will be doing our mid-year basic reading assessment (DIBELS) in the next few weeks. We will also send home your child’s performance report, and we look forward to in-depth conversations about your child at our upcoming conferences on March 3 and 4.
*Second semester is 23 weeks long, and we look forward to the great progress and growth we can continue with your children before the end of the school year on June 17th. We will continue to follow our health guidelines well, to create as safe a learning environment as possible!
*For the upcoming semester, WPE will continue with our hybrid model of every other, full day learning at WPE and the 2nd days being with Project Dream at Pitts Elementary or with families at home. The WPE staff continues to deliver our curriculum to students during this semester! We will carry on with a virtual school option as well, with our two WPE teachers facilitating the CDLS online curriculum.
*Winter Celebration Activities online from Mrs. Moffett.
Two Google Music Classrooms are available for your child. They have the same content and include dancing, singing, workouts, crafts, drawing, and learning about other cultures. Any family can access these anytime!

*Want to read a story with me? Please go to our WPE Bedtime Stories Facebook page. You may recognize some of your favorite Lake County people reading their favorite children’s book.
*If you have any tech concerns, please email helpdesk@lakecountyschools.net with a description of the problem.
*Thank you for your understanding as I have been out of school for an extended time due to an injury to my neck. Right before Christmas I had surgery to fix it and look forward to being back to work by the end of January. I have missed seeing the WPE crew and am so proud of the seamless way in which our staff delivers high quality education each day.
