CCHS News and Announcements
Workforce Readiness Bootcamp The final segment of our academic calendar is upon us and we are beginning our Workforce Readiness Bootcamp. This is a time when students who are not gaining workforce skills through employment opportunities will be engaged in activities in school that will allow for career exploration and soft skill development. Students who are employed full time will need to be sure their Work Based Learning Contract is current and on file in the CCHS office and will need to be filling out their Work Based Learning Logs weekly. Please call the office if you have any questions about this.
Prom LCHS’s Prom will be at Freight on May 28 from 7-11pm. The theme will be “Enchanted Forest”. CCHS students may attend and Heather will be there to support any students who might need her. Tickets go on sale on May 9 and are $20/person, $25/couple. Come see Heather if you are interested. Here is the flyer.
Seniors Our final check for seniors to graduate was Thursday, April 28. The next deadline for Seniors is on May 26 when fees and Service Learning is due. Please consult this list as you plan for all the final events that Seniors will participate in!
Portfolio Defense Scheduling If your student is graduating this year, they should have scheduled their defense appointments. These will all occur on Mondays in May and it is how CCHS determines if students have met the standards needed for graduation since we do not use grades. Please double check with your student if you are unsure about whether they have scheduled their appointment.
Good work, Cloud City High School students! Our Environmental Literacy students collected over 25 phones, a few i-pads, chargers, and other electronic devices this semester for recycling! Electronic recyclables are sent to a company in Kentucky called Eco-Cell. Those sent in from Colorado benefit the gorilla habitat at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. This is an ongoing effort at CCHS and we welcome any electronics you have that need disposing of! Please bring to Cloud City High School at 315 W. 6th Street (NE corner of the Pitts Building). Better recycled than in the landfill or your junk drawer!
Students — order your CCHS lunches! See the attached CCHS May Lunch Menu and link to our website CCHS Lunch Orders/ Menu page: https://www.lakecountyschools.net/cchs/resources/cchs-llunch-orders-menu/
Do you have or know of a rental property that’s opening up? Want to rent to a reliable, awesome LCSD employee? Please pass on any known rentals to Kathleen (719 293 4678), as we look at the hiring season and want to support our employees to find housing!
Colorado youth now have access to 3 free behavioral health sessions! Any parent or youth can go to
https://imattercolorado.org/ to assess their own/their child’s needs. If the results show they need help, the site will connect them to a provider for a 45-minute appointment in the next two weeks.
Outward Bound is offering a free backpacking trip to LGBTQ+ youth this summer in California. Outward Bound LGBTQ+ coursesare designed for LGBTQ+ teens to build community and cultivate self-efficacy through service-learning, leadership development, and self-discovery in natural environments. This course is staffed with Instructors who have lived experiences with and demonstrated support for the LGBTQ+ community. Staff strive to create a safe space for teens who have experienced being marginalized due to their identity, and/or are exploring their sexual and/or gender identity to build community and cultivate self-efficacy. Students should expect a traditional Outward Bound course structure, where they’ll learn technical skills and take responsibility for daily activities, while also developing relationships and building community with other LGBTQ+ youth. The program provides full-tuition scholarships for highly motivated LGBTQ+ youth from under-resourced communities to attend an Outward Bound wilderness course.

W.I.S.E. Parent is a holistic approach to raising good people.
On May 10th , from 6 – 7:30, join Scott & Building Hope online for a live, 75 minute presentation/discussion, and dive deeper into what Wellness, Inspiration, Strategies, and Education means. Learn how you can apply these principles to your every day living, and find better balance, mindfulness, effectiveness, and awareness. We can only give the best to our children, if we are giving the best of ourselves. So, take vigorous notes, and leave with strategies that can be applied immediately. And remember, the honesty you maintain with yourself, dictates your investment in progressing and developing. Now is your time to shine. Now is your time to grow and be your best . . .
. . . and be a W.I.S.E. parent!
