It was wonderful to see so many families over the past couple of days for Student-Led Parent-Teacher Conferences! We hope you heard encouraging updates about your student’s progress and gained a clear understanding of their next steps toward reaching their goals and graduating from high school. Thank you for supporting their learning and growth.
Next Thursday, October 22, all students will travel to Colorado State University in Fort Collins for our Work-Based Learning (WBL) Day. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore career paths and learn more about options for continuing their education after high school. We are grateful to CSU for providing a charter bus for this experience.
Please make sure your student arrives at school on time, as the bus will depart promptly. Students will return to Leadville at approximately 5:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly for the later arrival.

Late Summer/Fall Office Hours:
* Vail: Open 9:00-4:00 Friday-Sunday through September 27, in both Lionshead and Vail Village. Lionshead Ticket Office will be open daily for pre-season sales starting Saturday, November 7th from 9:00-4:00. We’ll begin our winter operating schedule on November 13th, with the Lionshead and Vail Village ticket offices open from 8:00-4:00 daily.
* Beaver Creek: Open 9:00-4:30 Saturday & Sunday through September 27. We’ll begin our winter operating schedule on November 24th, with the main ticket office open from 8:00-4:00 daily.

October has brought a few unwelcome illnesses to our school! Several students have been out with reports of stomach issues and head colds. Please help keep yourself and our school community healthy with these reminders:
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the restroom. Hand sanitizer alone does not work well against some stomach viruses.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Clean frequently touched surfaces.
Stay home when you are too sick and follow school guidance for returning.

The District Accountability Committee (DAC) is organizing a potluck dinner for one night of conferences, Wednesday, October 14. We warmly invite all LCSD parents/families and community members to contribute what you can. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference and help us celebrate our dedicated teachers. Food drop off will be at each school between 3-4pm. Please no plug in dishes such as crock pots. Food may come warm and we will keep it warm. If you bring a dish in a container that is not disposable, please plan to pick up this container no later than 7:00pm. We will send more detailed instructions closer to the date for everyone who signs up!

Another week is in the books at CCHS! It was a busy week filled with fun Homecoming celebrations, and it was wonderful to see our students show up and participate in the parade.
The Homecoming Dance will be held at LCHS on Saturday, October 3, from 7:00–9:00 p.m. This event is for high school students only.
Student-led parent-teacher conferences are just two weeks away! Please make sure you schedule a conference for you and your child. Students will lead the conversation about their learning, progress, and goals.

Help Us Bring a Family Perspective to District Finances
The district is looking for parents, guardians, and other community members interested in volunteering for our Finance Committee. You do not need experience in finance or accounting. We are looking for people who are curious, willing to ask questions, and interested in learning more about how school funding works.
The committee reviews the district’s budget and financial position, discusses financial issues facing our schools, and provides a community perspective on financial decisions. If you’ve ever wondered where school funding comes from, why some money can only be spent on certain things, or how financial decisions get made, this is a good opportunity to learn more and help us make this information easier for families to understand.
The committee meets about 3–4 times per year, generally from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Meetings this year are currently planned for October, January, and April.

Student-led parent-teacher conferences are coming up soon! Please schedule your conference through Pick a Time, https://pickatime.com/client?ven=11618553&event=416060, or contact the front office or your student’s ACE Success teacher for help getting scheduled. Conferences are listed for October 14 and 15. We look forward to hearing students share their learning, goals, and portfolio completion with you.
Next week is Homecoming Week! We encourage students to join in Spirit Week. Check the flyer for each day’s theme and the other celebrations happening throughout the week. The Homecoming parade begins promptly at 4:00 p.m. on October 1 at the Mining Museum.
The Homecoming dance will be held at LCHS on Saturday, October 3, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. Students who wish to bring a guest from outside the Lake County School District must submit a guest pass and receive approval by the end of the school day on October 1. Guests must be currently enrolled high school students; underclassmen, graduates, and students who have left school are not eligible.
We are in our October count for student attendance. Regular attendance continues to be a challenge for some students. Please talk with your student about arriving on time and attending every scheduled school day and scheduled class on time. If your family needs support, reach out as soon as possible so we can meet and make a positive plan together.
