CCHS News and Announcements 4.24.25
Dear Cloud City Families,
Sliding into May!
As we step into May next week, there’s a lot happening at Cloud City High School! Here’s what you need to know:
CMC Courses Wrapping Up
Students who are concurrently enrolled in Colorado Mountain College (CMC) courses will be finishing up their classes by the end of next week. We’re proud of all their hard work and dedication throughout the semester!
Students are currently meeting with our CEPA Coordinator to plan out any summer or fall courses they intend to participate in. If your student has not yet scheduled a meeting, encourage them to do so soon!
NWEA Testing – Thursday, May 1st
All students are expected to be in school by 8:25 AM on Thursday, May 1st for their third and final NWEA Reading and Math assessments.
There are rewards up for grabs for students who show the greatest combined growth since their previous assessments—so let’s make it count! Please make sure your student gets a great night’s sleep and comes ready to show what they’re capable of.
PROM – Saturday, May 3rd
Prom is here! This event is open to 11th and 12th graders from both CCHS and LCHS.
Students planning to attend must notify the front office to be added to the list.
If bringing a guest from another school or a younger classmate, a Guest Approval Form must be completed and submitted to Mrs. Kerrigan by the end of the school day on Thursday, May 1st.
Let’s make it a night to remember!
As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement. Let’s finish the year strong!
Warm regards,
Katherine Kerrigan

From the School Nurse: Colleen Nielsen, RN
Colorado has had its first reported Measles case this week. Measles is more than just a rash. It is a serious respiratory illness that can cause lifelong problems like hearing loss, brain damage, and even death. Measles is preventable with a vaccine. Please reach out to your provider to check on your student’s vaccination status. If measles was to be found in our student population, your student will be excluded if not fully vaccinated. If you have questions, please email me at cnielsen@lakecountyschools.net

Lake County Gateway Mobility Plan-Community Outreach
Lake County is developing the Gateways Mobility Plan to improve traffic safety and multimodal access along US 24. The project includes evaluating pedestrian and bicycle improvements as well as exploring a potential truck diversion route to reduce congestion in Downtown Leadville. Focus areas include Mountain View Village, the Northern Gateway, and the intersection near Colorado Mountain College.
To ensure the plan reflects community needs, a bilingual (English/Spanish) survey is available for the community to share their input. Families with students at your school play an important role in shaping safe and accessible travel options. Please see flier below.
