CCHS News and Announcements
Hello CCHS Families,
Thank you for your patience during Thursday’s events. Safety is one of our greatest priorities of the school. Even though there was no immediate threat or danger at CCHS we went into a “Secure” state until we were cleared by law enforcement. What that means is business as usual within the school with not allowing students to leave without a parent/guardian coming to the school to sign them out. When and if this type of event would occur again, just know that we will notify families if students are released and not required to return to their normally scheduled classes. We had several students leave at lunch time when the “Secure” state had ended and did not return to their afternoon classes. Attendance is extremely important, and students should be attending each of their assigned classes on time and every day they are scheduled unless you hear otherwise. If for any reason your child is to be absent, we would appreciate a phone call by the parent and/or guardian as to why the student is absent, 719-486-6980.
Homecoming week was a great success. We had several students show up to float building and participate in the parade. I may be a bit bias, but CCHS had one of the best floats. The week was filled with several sporting events with Lake County students. They walked away with some amazing wins that were celebrated by all. Saturday evening was the Homecoming dance. I heard wonderful reviews about the event from students and staff members.
Last week we sent out an updated Student Calendar. Please make sure to look at it as there have been some changes. October 26th students will have early release at 11:45 for conferences. October 27th all students are expected to attend school that morning for our Workforce Bootcamp. That day will also be early release for conferences.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me by email, kkerrigan@lakecountyschools.net or call 719-486-6979.
Dear LCSD Parents & Guardians:
We are very excited to have begun another great school year in Lake County! Here at LCSD our most important job is to keep your children safe. In our School Safety section on our website, we have important information about the tools and strategies we use to promote safe schools. This information is only to keep you informed, not to cause concern. We want you “Prepared, not scared”.
In addition to the steps we take to make our schools safe and secure, we also work hard to make sure our schools are welcoming to all students, families and community members. One of our commitments is that bullying has no place in our schools. In this Safety Section I have included a brochure documenting our bullying prevention program. This document outlines how we define bullying, and how we respond to a report of bullying behavior in one of our schools. Another commitment is to Title IX and Nondiscrimination. It is important that not only staff, but students as well understand their rights in these areas. More Information about Title IX and Nondiscrimination can also be found on the school district site at www.lakecountyschools.net or click HERE for the School Safety webpage.
Please watch for this information coming home to your mailing address or contact the district office for a hard copy.
Thank you,
Corbin Logan
