Message from Ben Cairns and New Principal, Erin Dillon
Dear LCHS Parents and Students,
Getting to be your principal and school leader these last five years has been an enormous gift in my life. I count it amongst the coolest opportunities I have had and am grateful for all the work we have done together. I really enjoyed my day to day interactions with all of you and it was really that element that made my decision to go to CMC so difficult. We have made so much progress as a school in terms of our school culture, academics and even across our extra curriculars. We were really able to work together to help shape our school into something we are all very proud of. While I am changing roles I am still here in our community working on opportunities for young people so that they can live the lives they want and become amazing people. I look forward to continuing working closely with all of you and with the team at LCHS. I leave you all in very competent hands. Ms. Dillon has actually been the brains behind most of the progress we have made and I know she will do great as your interim principal along with the support of Ms. Berman. The teachers are a strong group and excited to get back to normal after such a disruptive past 18 months. And of course, our student leaders and student body are a great group of young people who I believe are eager to get back to school as normal and continue to help use school to prepare themselves for the futures they are choosing and creating. Thanks so much for your kindness towards me and the many happy memories as your principal. Please welcome Ms. Dillon with open arms and I look forward to continuing all that we are doing as a community in my new role at CMC.
Thank you,
Ben Cairns
Dear LCHS Parents and Students,
I am both humbled and privileged to have the opportunity to serve our Lake County families and students as the interim principal. For the last 4 years, I have worked closely with Mr. Cairns as the assistant principal at LCHS. I am beyond thankful for his leadership and his many contributions to our community. As a school, we have made considerable progress on creating an educational program and community that supports all of our students in achieving their post-secondary goals and dreams. I am excited to continue that work alongside an exceptional staff as we enter the 21-22 school year. It takes a village to raise young individuals who are engaged, values driven, curious, and confident. It is essential that we work together toward that end, especially as we recover and rejuvenate following a school year disrupted by COVID-19. I look forward to partnering with you as we look to the future and continue our mission to provide your child with an exceptional education.
We are excited to see you and start our work this year with you during our family teacher conferences on Monday, August 9th and Tuesday, August 10th from 10am-6pm. If you have not already, please sign up for family teacher conferences using this link: https://www.flashappointments.com/client/lgn/launch.cfm?busId=13089
Also, please note that if your child was assigned to Mrs. Pongrekun’s crew, she will no longer be your child’s crew leader. Excitingly, she is now the principal of LCES. That being said, you will still sign up for conferences under her name!
Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns at all. My cell number is 719-293-0103 and my email is edillon@lakecountyschools.net. I’m looking forward to having a fantastic school year!
Best,
Erin Dillon, LCHS Principal
