Dear Families and Students,

We have a busy five weeks ahead of us. This week, graduates are completing their studies and wrapping up their Portfolio Defense. We have some students who need to retake and make-up their NWEA exams but should be finished by end of this week. The last four weeks of school are dedicated to Workforce Boot Camp. We have many things planned so pay close attention.

Tuesday, May 23^rd, all students all day. We will be departing the school at 8:30 for the day. We will be touring Fading West in Buena Vista to learn about all the work opportunities they have to offer and the skills necessary for that line of work. From Buena Vista we will head to Tenderfoot Farms in Twin Lakes to tour the farm and learn about all the work opportunities and skills necessary for that line of work.

Wednesday, May 24^th, all students all day. We will be departing to Hayden Meadows for the day to conduct a science experiment, do some planting, hopefully meet with CPW, and do some fishing. In the afternoon we either tour the landfill or Leadville Sanitation to learn about their work opportunities and skills necessary for that line of work.

On both Tuesday and Wednesday students will need to bring a sack lunch to school, or they may order and take one from the cafeteria on these days.

Thursday, May 25^th, we will be staying close to the school that day. We have planned a visit from Ben Cairns to come speak to all students about the revamped Construction Program and other programs/pathways CMC has to offer students. We will then split into three groups to do rotations of service learning by cleaning up areas in our community, working in the CCHS gardens or C4 gardens, and t-shirt printing.

Tuesday, May 30^th to Wednesday, May 31^st is our overnight college tour. We will depart from the school at 7:45am on Tuesday, May 30^th and head to Spring Valley CMC for a tour then on to Northwestern Junior College in Rangely, Colorado for a tour. We will stay the night in a hotel in Grand Junction, Colorado and then on Wednesday, May 31^st we will tour Western Colorado Community College. Our return time from this trip will be between 3:30/4:00pm on the 31^st. Crew teachers will be reaching out to parents/guardians as there is paperwork that needs to be signed and returned to school for students to participate in these activities. If we do not receive the signed paperwork students are still required to attend school as we will have alternative lessons planned for them on campus.

Graduates’ last day of school is on Thursday, May 18^th if they have completed everything in order to graduate. Each of them is welcome to participate in any of our planned Workforce Boot Camp Days, we just need to know ahead of time which event(s) they anticipate joining us for. Friday, May 2^nd will be graduation practice at LCHS, and the graduation walk through the schools. This is mandatory for all graduates to participate. Times for these will be communicated soon. Graduation will be Saturday, June 3^rd at LCHS gym beginning at 8:30am. Students will need to arrive by 8:00am to lineup.

Graduates Check-Out week of May 22nd-25th – All CCHS students who are graduating on June 3^rd must check-out with Leslee in the office the week of May 22^nd. All fees must be paid in order to receive your graduation cap and gown. See Leslee for a copy of your student fees owed. Chromebooks and chargers must be returned.
